The subconscious mind influences many of our thoughts, beliefs and behaviours, often without us realising it. Hello,

My name's Heather Dean,

And in so much of my work,

You'll hear me talking about the subconscious mind.

So I just wanted to offer a really short video to explain briefly what the subconscious mind is.

So,

The Cambridge Dictionary defines the subconscious mind as that part of our mind that remembers and notices information even when we're not actively trying to do so.

And influences our behavior even though we don't realize it.

And that's really key,

What is happening in the subconscious we're not aware of consciously.

So the subconscious holds all the information.

Of everything we've ever experienced in our lives,

Right from when we were in the womb up until this present moment.

And because there is so much of that information,

That's why so much of it has to be in the subconscious.

And in fact,

Neuroscientists estimate that 95% or up to 95% of our behavior is influenced or even controlled by the subconscious.

So that's absolutely huge,

95%.

We can think of the subconscious mind a little bit like an iceberg floating in the ocean.

So everything in the conscious mind what we're actively thinking about planning and aware of is the very tip of the iceberg and everything else the vast majority of what is happening in our minds is subconscious it's below the surface And this is why it is so incredibly important that we work with our subconscious minds.

When we're healing,

When we're changing the way we show up in the world,

When we're working on our beliefs.

We really need to be working with the subconscious mind.

And we do that through bringing awareness to the subconscious by meditating,

For example,

Getting into a lightly altered state of consciousness so that we can get more awareness about our patterns.

The subconscious holds all our patterns,

Our beliefs,

Our thought processes,

So when we start working with the subconscious,

We can really create lasting change in our lives.
