Details

Our Florence House retreat offers a warm and nurturing ambiance, surrounded by sea views, gardens, and the serene energy of the South Downs. It’s a place where stillness and inspiration naturally arise, inviting you to slow down and reconnect. The intent of this retreat is to guide you back to a sense of balance and ease through mindful practices and restorative rhythms. It is an opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life and immerse yourself in a setting that supports clarity, renewal, and deeper connection. We are excited to work with our talented chef, Djamila, who will prepare nourishing, creative, and delicious vegetarian meals (with vegan options). Using high-quality, locally sourced, and as-organic-as-possible produce, her food is a highlight of the retreat—both wholesome and inspiring. This retreat is designed to help you rejuvenate body and mind, reconnecting with your natural state of peace and balance. Each day will include morning vinyasa yoga, afternoon yin/restorative practice, and the option to join a massage and aromatherapy workshop. In your free time, you can explore Florence House’s beautiful grounds, walk the nearby clifftops, or join a guided hike across the Seven Sisters—a dramatic and deeply calming landscape. Whether you come with friends or alone, this retreat offers the perfect space to relax, restore, and reconnect.

Testimonials

info

We attended Joys weekend retreat at Bala Brook. The most delightful secluded location with direct access to Dartmoor National Park. The yoga facilities were excellent the large room with garden views was the one we used the most for our practice with the other room being used for the optional massages. Joy and Steve worked so hard to provide us with everything we needed for an excellent retreat. A packed diverse schedule but with sufficient downtime built in. The food, what can I say it was exceptional and everyone was raving about it. Such a beautiful time away with like minded people all at different levels of yoga proficiency but everyone was made to feel included. Loved our time away so much we have booked to go on another of Joys retreats next year.

Joy's yoga retreat was a very special experience for me. A stunning location in beautiful surroundings provides a tranquil environment and the quietness and peace is reflected in the beautiful shala nestling in the shady part of the garden. Organic local produce was turned into tasty meals by our resident chef and meals provided a lovely social occasion for us. Fun, laughter, conviviality and of course a chance to practice yoga on a deeper level made for a great experience.

Noel Holmes, UK

My first yoga retreat, so I was a little apprehensive. I needn’t have worried, the yoga sessions were suitable for all or additional or alternative sessions were added for advanced practitioners. The venue could not have been better and the vegetarian and vegan food over the weekend was all delicious. Joy is an excellent and inspiring teacher and I will book another retreat with her.
