Pain Relief For Sleep
This pain management practice will help ease your mind into a calmer and more restful state. Using a very simple visualisation technique to lower your awareness of pain, you will begin to relax and eventually sleep.
Transcript
Laying still,
Focus your awareness on any painful area and begin to slow your breathing down,
Deepening each breath.
Breathe out the pain and breathe in a visualised sensation of coolness on that troublesome spot,
Each breath in of healing and every breath out of relief.
Continue to calmly slow your breathing pattern down to a cycle that becomes comfortable.
Begin to relax your body as you continue to visualise that area of pain becoming cooler,
Every thought,
Feeling and emotion descending along with your every calming breath.
Allow that area to now loosen,
Give up the negative energy that sends painful signals to your mind,
Breathing naturally now.
Begin that area as a hot spot,
Cooling and shrinking the more you concentrate on each exhalation.
Cooler,
Quieter,
Getting smaller and smaller,
You begin to sense some relief.
Allow your shoulders to gently drop,
Loosening the tops of your arms.
As the muscles in your arms smooth out,
Your wrists unlock,
Giving your hands and fingers permission to descend down.
As you see in your minds eye,
The area of pain becoming smaller and smaller,
Your chest loosens,
Allowing for more deeper and longer automatic breaths.
Feeling calmer and slightly more relaxed,
Your abdomen becomes soft and still with the concentration of focus that you have in observing your breathing.
Each gentle inward and outward cycle dulls the pain a little more,
Giving focus back to your mind.
Your awareness of the area causing distraction cools and shrinks in size,
You are now able to allow your hips,
Legs,
Ankles and feet to descend with the relaxation you feel.
The tension you feel in your body can now be let go,
Releasing every muscle releases the pain.
See in your minds eye a stream of purple light from above,
Drawing out the pain.
As the pain is expelled from your body,
The stream of light becomes blue,
Cooling that area even more.
On seeing the changing colour of the light stream of energy,
Your neck loosens,
Making your head heavier and each breath deeper.
As the energy of pain is sent up through the light stream,
It dissolves up into the atmosphere.
You are more relaxed,
More calm and breathing a rhythm of peacefulness.
The relief ultimately making your eyelids heavy,
Resting your head down now,
Surrendering to this moment of blissful silence.
There are no thoughts other than the desires of falling asleep deeply.
There is no pain to keep you from letting go a little more.
The blue light now fades out.
Going a little deeper as you begin to drift off for the night,
Imagine healing yourself from within.
Starting from the top of your head,
See a glow of purple from inside your body.
This is your true inner self energy.
It sits slowly sliding down your face,
From your brow down to your eyes,
Each area becoming softer,
More relaxed and smooth.
Your eyes draw down trying to see this energy,
But it is out of sight and only makes you sleepier.
You can sense the energy and see it in your mind,
Healing every part of your body on the way down to your feet.
From your cheeks to the bottom of your jaw becoming loose,
Your face itself drifting into a sleep state.
The purple glow even relaxes the muscles behind your ears,
Your neck and the tops of your shoulders.
Perhaps a tingling sensation is felt as it descends further,
Cooling the areas it passes.
There is nothing more to think about.
There are no distractions,
But there is every reason for you to take this time for yourself.
Your head may be feeling a little fuzzy right now,
Perhaps more clear minded.
Your head descends down further on each automatic breath.
As the healing purple glow reaches your chest,
The tops of your arms,
Your lungs and sides,
You feel an instant relief.
Every breath now calming and hypnotic in allowing you to fall asleep in this moment.
With the purple energy slowly sliding down,
Your arms begin to feel heavy,
Loosening your wrists to allow your hands in finding a restful position for the night,
Your body itself falling asleep.
The effects are now felt in your mind,
With each and every part of you relaxing more and more.
Your hips,
Pelvis and legs tingle with comfort as your head sinks further into your plush deep filled pillow.
Every moment a new bliss is felt.
As the purple energy glows through your ankles,
They unlock a heaviness that you haven't felt in a while.
Your toes splay automatically in acceptance,
Drifting off more and more,
You just let go.
The hypnotic sound of your calm breathing sends you deeper into a state of unawareness,
Peace and sleep.
Everything quiet,
Still,
Calm and tranquil.
You open a space in your mind,
Clearing out the last of any remaining thoughts.
Inside you hear words of encouragement,
Self love and restful intentions.
Giving your pain a name can help to communicate your wishes.
As each day passes,
You manage your pain better.
In various parts of the day,
You release all tension with a single deep inhalation and exhale into peacefulness with a slower breath out.
Following your boundaries,
You can set goals and tasks to suit,
Perhaps even pushing past them at a pace that works for you.
Throughout the day,
You stop to appreciate the quiet times and lack of pain.
Remembering this will help your mind to become stronger.
Planning for the next day makes it easier to minimise any pain.
In your mind is practice and practice makes perfect.
You may not have control of the physical side of pain,
But your mind is separate and as such is one that you can control.
The progress you make,
Even in the smallest of steps,
Is progress.
You are very good at having patience with yourself.
You manage to take small steps each and every day.
You can relax whenever you want to.
When you do,
You are giving your mind and body a break.
Positivity and forward thinking helps to bring up your mood.
You are not controlled by pain.
Your state of mind allows you to carry through with your day with minimal intrusions of negative thoughts.
Your mind is calm at all times,
Being mindful in every moment to manage your pain better.
You find it easy to relax as you consciously focus on the things you have to do.
The focus on your breath,
Listening and paying attention to every inhalation and exhalation,
Soothes your mind and settles your pain.
Where pain seems to overwhelm your mind and body,
Imagining your body becoming cooler brings some relief.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed,
Taking your mind to a favourite place or memory instantly brings peacefulness.
Breathing in a moment of relief,
You exhale the pain out through your mouth.
Allowing your shoulders to slide down your back creates a peacefulness inside.
With those words calming your every sensation,
You completely let go.
Your awareness fades as you rest your mind and body for the night.
No sound from the outside can be heard and even the volume of my voice dissolves as you drift off more.
Peacefulness is now inside you,
You can rest easy into a deep sleep,
Feeling replenished when you awake and stronger than today.
Each inhalation bringing fresh new oxygen to keep your body cool,
Still,
Calm and at rest,
Each exhalation sending your body further into a very relaxed state.
Your mind now completely clear as it becomes unaware.
You let go and fall fast asleep.
Peace.
