This sleep practice involves a combination of Yoga Nidra and also Prayers for Gratitude and Surrender. This combination is highly effective in providing deep rest and relaxation to the mind and body. Gratitude rewires your brain to stay happy, which is very important for quality sleep, and Surrendering, on the other hand, provides a sense of safety and protection. Have an amazing, deep and quality sleep tonight!

A very warm welcome to you to this meditation.

I am your guide Saqib and tonight I will be guiding you into the world of sleep through a combination of meditation and prayer.

Whenever I will recite the prayer during this meditation,

You can simply listen to my words and feel them in your heart.

I will be praying to the universe but in your heart you can imagine the prayer being conveyed to anyone or anything you believe in,

Be it God,

Collective consciousness,

Nature,

Universal energy etc.

The prayer will be mainly for two things,

Gratitude and surrender.

We will be first thankful to the universe and then we will surrender ourselves to it to ask for protection.

Surrendering to the universal power has always worked for me.

I always feel deeply protected when I surrender,

Not only during sleep but in life in general.

Also,

Just know that I am praying for you as well.

I believe that because we have met for this meditation tonight,

We have some connection and I want to tell you that I love you.

So let's start this meditation together.

See if you can shift to a more comfortable position.

Be as relaxed as you can be.

Keep your eyes open for now.

We will close them soon.

Let's first set our sankalpa or intention for having quality sleep.

I will say the words of sankalpa and either you can repeat after me in your heart or just listen to my words.

It's up to you.

I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.

I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.

I give deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.

And now,

Find a point in your line of sight and simply gaze at that point for some time.

This point may be on the roof or a wall or even some point in the dark if you can't see the roof.

Let your gaze be a soft gaze.

Don't strain your eyes.

Loosen and relax the muscles of your eyes.

Now very gradually,

Close your eyes.

Feel the presence of your body in your surroundings starting from your feet.

Feel your feet's presence,

The air touching them.

The presence of your legs.

The presence of your pelvis.

The presence of your stomach and lower back.

The presence of your hands and fingers.

Your arms.

Your chest and the upper back.

Your neck.

The presence of your face.

And finally,

The top of your head.

And now,

I will recite the gratitude prayer.

I thank you universe for giving me the opportunity to be born in this life,

In this incarnation,

In this realm and to express my divinity,

Express the love that I am and to create a beautiful universe in this physical realm.

I thank you universe for giving me a beautiful and habitable planet beaming with life,

With immense flora and fauna,

The lush green plants,

Trees,

Grass and vegetation,

Millions of wonderful species of animals and insects and their vibrant colors which are keeping the ecosystem in balance.

I thank you for the various landscapes,

The mountains,

The plains,

The rivers and the vast oceans,

For the fresh air to breathe and to rejuvenate ourselves,

For providing us with food and water,

The wide variety of fruits,

Vegetables and minerals.

I thank you universe for providing me with this amazing body which will help me express my divinity in love.

Thank you for this brain to think,

Understand and plan my life so that I will be able to work towards serving others and myself and creating a life that I want to create.

Thank you for the eyes to see the beauty in the world,

Ears to listen to the delightful music of the world,

For my mouth to speak the words of love and to taste the delicious delicacies of the world and a nose to smell the fragrances and arms and legs to make movements which will change the world for better.

I thank you universe for taking care of me since my birth,

For providing me with people who took care of me,

Nourished me and made me grow into a healthy human being,

For the people who have provided me with love that I needed and for the people who have been critical of me which has made me understand myself,

Learn from my mistakes and grow my consciousness.

I thank you for surrounding me with so many people which gives me the opportunity to express my divinity and the love within me and to fill the lives of these people with love to make their lives better and to help them raise their consciousness.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to transform the lives of others for better.

I thank you universe for various beautiful moments in my life which have filled me with happiness and elation and also for the challenging situations in my life which have made me learn and grow,

Raise my consciousness,

Change my unhealthy patterns and have hence helped me in becoming a better human being and fully expressing my divinity in this physical realm.

I thank you for giving me this beautiful gift of meditation which has helped me calm down,

Be present in the moment and to understand my own strengths and weaknesses and to remember my own true nature,

My true self and the divine within me.

I thank you universe for giving me the power to create anything I want,

To manifest the life that I desire,

To make me understand that I myself am the creator and that I have the power to create a beautiful,

Connected and loving universe in this physical realm.

And finally I thank you for this beautiful gift of sleep which makes me go into the deep world of calm and stillness that provides me deep rest and relaxation to my mind and my body.

And now we will meditate for some time.

Notice if there are any thoughts in your mind,

Just be aware of these thoughts.

Seeing these thoughts as bubbles floating in front of you with each thought representing one bubble.

In your imagination pop these bubbles of thought one by one with a slight touch of your finger,

Just in your imagination.

And it's now time to provide ultimate relaxation to the body.

Imagine a ring of bright white light encircling your head.

This ring of light is pure loving energy.

It is the light from the source of all creation and it will provide deep rest and relaxation to whichever part of the body it moves through.

Move this ring down your face slowly towards your neck and as you move it,

Feel it relaxing each and every part of your face.

As you move it further down your neck towards your navel,

Relax each and every part of your upper body including your arms and hands.

You can expand and contract the size of this ring depending upon the size of the body part through rigid passes.

Now move it from your navel towards your feet.

In a similar fashion,

Move this ring upwards from your feet back to your navel.

Now from your navel to your neck.

Including your hands and arms.

From your neck to the top of your head.

Feel this ring calming down your mind even further.

And now we will pray to surrender ourselves to the universe.

Dear universe,

I know that you have my back.

I know that you are protecting me all along.

I know that you love me.

I just want to let you know that I love you too with all my heart.

I surrender myself to you.

I surrender my body.

I surrender my mind.

I surrender my thoughts.

I surrender my awareness.

I surrender my consciousness.

And I surrender my soul to you.

I surrender myself to you completely.

Now that I have surrendered myself to you,

Take care of me and form a layer of protection around me with your light.

Embrace me and love me.

I feel so happy,

Safe and relaxed in your embrace.

My mind has relaxed.

My body has relaxed.

My soul has relaxed.

And now we will continue the meditation.

The gateway to the world of sleep is through the heart.

So now we will journey from our mind to our heart and into a place of silence and stillness where we will rest,

Relax and sleep deeply.

For this we will move our awareness from the mind to the throat to the heart and into that place of silence and stillness.

So bring your awareness now at the point between your eyebrows.

Gradually move your awareness downwards and place your awareness at your throat and the centre of your neck.

And now move your awareness further downwards and place it at the centre of your chest.

From here we will journey inwards to a place of silence,

A place of stillness,

A place of pure being.

This place is deep within us.

Descend down to that place as I guide you.

I will be counting back from 10 to 1 and as I do so,

With each count,

Imagine and feel as if you are descending one step into that place of silence,

Stillness and sleep.

Once you reach that place of pure being,

Just relax there by simply listening to the music in the background for some time as you go deeper and deeper into the world of sleep.

Let's begin.
