Welcome to this morning meditation.
As with every day,
Today is a new day.
You most likely have things to do,
Some of which you may be excited about and some of which you may not be.
Or for some,
It might feel like any other day.
Many of us wake up in a hurry or without being truly grounded in our own sense of presence.
And there's no doubt that this can have an impact on the quality and pace of our day.
But today is different.
You're making the choice to connect deeper within before it all begins.
You're setting the intention to start the day from a more embodied place and with a mindset that supports your wellbeing as you navigate through this day.
You deserve to have this moment before it all begins and it will set the tone for the rest of your day.
You might still be laying in bed or perhaps you've already gotten up.
Either way,
Set an intention to connect with just yourself at this time,
Allowing all the things to do to be set aside for just this moment.
And start to become gently aware of your breath,
Breathing in and breathing out.
Just noticing this process that takes place,
A process that will be with you as you move throughout this day.
And knowing that with each inhale and each exhale,
You are taking part of the present moment.
Now see if you can connect with your body,
Simply noticing and observing your body as a whole.
This is your body that will be with you all day and will support you as you move through your environment.
And with your own sense of compassion and curiosity,
See if you can become aware of how your body feels overall,
Its state.
Is it still tired?
Is it awake?
Might it feel calm?
Or do you notice areas of tension?
Now experiment with inviting your breath to move through your body,
Riding the gentle waves of your inhalation and exhalation.
See if you can allow the body to become more peacefully energized and more awake now as you start this day.
Taking a moment now to connect with your mindset about this day.
What do you notice about the contents of your thoughts?
Where is your mind?
Is it here in the present moment?
Or is it somewhere else?
If the mind starts to wonder,
See if you can bring your awareness back to this very moment in this practice,
Into your body and your breath and this particular time and space.
Now checking in with your emotional landscape in a mindful fashion.
Do you notice or observe any feelings that might be present for you?
Whatever they are,
It's okay.
But see if you can just note them or label them.
Maybe you feel anxiety or ease or excitement or dread.
Or maybe you feel nothing at all or a combination of many different feelings.
Whatever they are,
See if you can breathe with the feelings for a moment in a way that feels comfortable and safe for you.
Really acknowledging what is present for you at this time without judgment.
Breathing in and breathing out.
So now is the opportunity for you to make a choice,
To set an intention for your day as you move forward.
Your choice is important and powerful and will allow you to move throughout your day in a way that supports your well-being,
Your goals and how you desire to respond to the events and the situations that might arise.
For example,
Your intention might be to feel less anxious about what you have to do.
Or it could be to be more engaged in your daily task and have a positive attitude.
Perhaps you wish to be more kind and patient with yourself and others today.
Or maybe your goal is to just be more calm and present,
Feel good in your body and your mind and to be at ease as you move throughout your day and simply do your best.
So take this moment to set your intention with the realization that while you may not be able to control everything that happens today,
You can control how you choose to engage and respond and the mindset and attitude you desire to embody today.
And breathing in and breathing out.
Now taking a moment to ask yourself,
What do you need today to be able to move throughout this day in a way that supports your intention?
Perhaps you need to take things slow or be more mindful.
Perhaps you need to engage in some act of self-care today or take some time to unwind at the end of it all.
Or maybe it might be to reach out for support or to simply take a moment to connect with something that brings you peace.
Whatever it is,
See if you can identify what this might be for you.
Now breathing in these intentions and these desires deep into your heart,
Allowing them to resonate within your entire being.
Knowing that you have the power,
Especially when you set your intention.
And taking in one last breath as you begin your journey into your day while invoking a sense of groundedness now and presence and intentionality.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Thank you for taking the time to engage in this meditation.
For when we can start our day more mindfully,
We have the ability to allow our awareness to guide ourselves on our journey.
May you have a wonderful day.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
And may you be free.
