To begin,
We're just going to get comfortable for our meditation,
Going wherever the body leads you today.
Maybe it's an easy seat,
Maybe it's a supported reclined position,
Maybe it's a supported shavasana.
Settling in,
Getting comfortable blinking the eyes closed.
Notice what you hear all around you.
Allow the ears to listen and search for sound as far out as they can.
Then begin to bring your focus closer,
Beginning to tune out those faraway sounds,
Only hearing what's in the room with you,
And then tightening that circle even more,
Listening to just your body.
Notice what sounds you hear the body making,
Maybe as the body makes minor adjustments.
Maybe you hear your breath as it moves in and out of the body through the nose.
Maybe you hear yourself swallow,
Or hear the gurgling noises of the stomach.
All the processes of the body,
Tuning in and listening to everything that's going on in the body all the time,
Without our knowing.
So in tune,
It's like you can hear your mind working,
Hear the blood moving,
Hear each part,
Each organ doing what it was meant to do,
All on its own,
Without having to be turned on or given directions,
Without us needing to do anything.
Our body cares for us each and every day,
All day,
And with our next few breaths,
We're going to send our appreciation,
Our thanks,
To our body,
To our literal body,
Everything that makes us up,
All the work that all these different working pieces,
All the work they do each day,
Breathing in appreciation,
Breathing in gratitude,
Honoring and thanking our body in each and every piece.
I'm taking a few moments to to acknowledge that even in those times that we are sick,
Even in those times where part of our body is not functioning in either the best way possible,
Or maybe at all,
Still breathing in that appreciation for all the days and the years that it did work to its best abilities,
Honoring all that it has done for us,
And also thanking and appreciating how the body adjusts to continue operating to its best abilities when other parts no longer function,
Or are sick or ill,
That our body and our organs and our functions continue to evolve,
To make adjustments,
To keep us going.
And we'll spend just a few more moments of quiet,
Sending our appreciation,
Our gratitude,
To all the work,
And then with the next few breaths,
We prepare for the many the many years ahead that our body will continue to serve us and work for us,
Just sitting quietly with the magic and the miracle of our body.
Maybe coming back to the breath,
To the sounds,
And on those next few breaths,
Maybe just using a mantra with the breath,
I am,
On your inhale,
Well,
On your exhale,
I am well,
Knowing that no matter what the body is experiencing,
Whatever the mind is experiencing,
We are well,
It will be well,
I am well.
And maybe we place our hands on any areas of the body that are currently in pain,
Currently experiencing discomfort,
That maybe need just a little bit more appreciation,
A few more moments here,
Feel that warmth of your hands,
Feel the breath as it comes in and out,
I am well.
And one more big breath,
Thank you,
Thank you body,
For all that you do,
All that you have done,
And all that you will,
For many years to come,
Once you're ready,
And come back into the world,
Blinking your eyes open,
And going out and having a wonderful and blessed day.
Namaste.
