Soothe Your Nervous System, Relax Your Throat
Feeling stress or anxiety? Join Natalie for a practice that will help to establish a baseline of calm and safety in the body. Using a vocal practice, singing using an "Ooo" sound, relax and open the throat muscles, allowing for more freedom of expression, and use your own voice to help soothe your nervous system and ease stress and anxiety. This works wonderfully, as a daily practice for nervous system care!

Thank you for coming to be with me today.
I was hoping that we could sit and breathe together for a little while and calm our nervous systems,
This time by making an oo sound.
Not only is the vibration of our voice calming for our system when we make an oo,
But particularly the shape that we make with an oo relaxes all of our throat muscles.
So this particular practice is focused on opening up as much of our sound in our throat through an oo.
You can do this practice sitting up or lying down,
Whatever feels best to your body,
Giving yourself a nice clear,
Straight channel through your core for your breath.
Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Really allowing any heaviness to come out on your breath like a vapor out your mouth on your exhale.
Inviting lightness and ease in on your inhale.
Having more movement of the energy inside your core.
You can continue breathing and just listen and absorb the sound or you can practice along with me an oo at any tone,
Whether it's an elongated pitch,
Whether you want to find where your voice fits along with mine,
Allow it to float.
Whatever feels natural for you,
Most nourishing for your body.
Continue to breathe deeply between sounds.
Focusing on opening and relaxing the throat while making sound.
