Would you like to parent with patience, kindness, love, awareness and consciousness? Welcome to this short course where we will be journeying through the highlights needed for mindful parenting. I will also be taking you through some experiential exercises to activate your awareness and intuition which are key aspects for parenting from a place of mindfulness.


Meet your Teacher

Helen Hansen is a kinesiologist with a speciality in developmental psychology and early childhood development. Helen has presented hundreds of workshops for parents and teachers of children of all ages and has also written books for children and parents. In the 1990's Helen presented right brain learning (conscious development) workshops for children at a popular theatre in Cape Town, South Africa. During this time Helen was teaching her right brain curriculum at various schools and it was in this period that much of mindful parenting approach was developed.

Lesson 1

Connecting With Your Unique Parent

In this experiential lesson you will be guided to recognize your whole self and grow a deeper understanding of various aspects of yourself as an individual and as a parent. Self-awareness of one's layers is a crucial foundation for parenting effectively and consciously. Awareness of the self will strengthen your compassion and understanding of your child. You can repeat this exercise weekly for optimal effect.

Lesson 2

How Your Perceptions Impact Your Parenting Style

In this lesson we discuss how perceptions are formulated and why they have such an impact on your parenting style and on your child. We also compare old theories of the DNA running the show, ie 'victim mentality' versus current knowledge which shows that thoughts are powerful influencers in one's mood, emotions and energy level. These aspects are all pivotal players when parenting and they can be attuned according to your consciousness through choices and practice.

You helped me realise my mother had become a toxic feminine, pouring her emotional poisions into me and my dad. I've taken the approach of helping her heal for a long time. But that means I was still not in my divine male purpose and energy field. I felt victimised and continually asked for autonomy. Then after learning all the lessons from my mental chatter, I realised I needed to save my dad first, so he could come back to his divine masculinity as well. And in turn we all end up helping each other in surprising ways.

A great place to start and I'm excited to listen to more from this instructor. My biggest struggle right now in parenting is trying to stay calm when we have somewhere to be and we can't seem to get out the door. We homeschool so they don't get the practice that most kids get with always being in a hurry, and I'm attempting to avoid that need to always be busy. However, even when I give them extra time to get what they need to do done before we leave, they tend to ignore my requests for action and it feels disrespectful to me. To put it into context they are 8 and almost 6, so this is probably age appropriate. I just want to be the calm, grounded, loving parent and I know in these moments I struggle.
