Managing Anger

Cosa imparerai
This course is designed to help you manage anger and other difficult emotions. Anger in itself is not bad. It's a natural response to things that happen in the world and in our lives. However, it only becomes a problem when we react without thinking, and quite often, that can cause more problems than the initial emotion.
Helen is an accredited coach, EFT practitioner and meditation teacher. In 2006 after attending a meditation workshop she felt a calm like never before. She joined a meditation class led by very experienced Buddhist teachers. There were no apps back then. She went on her first retreat in 2009. Since 2011 she’s been volunteering at retreat centres...

Lezione 1
Be Like A Rock
Be like a rock. So when you start to feel angry, what happens? Think about the last time you felt angry and what happened that made you feel that way. The chances are you were triggered by something outside of you. It might be something that somebody said, something you saw. It might have been an event.
Lezione 2
Allowing The Storm To Pass
Allowing the storm to pass. So the Buddha said the mind is the clear blue sky. But when these strong, difficult emotions come up, the sky gets obscured, and our moods can be like that. We can be in a great mood. We can feel fabulous. And then something will happen to take us out of that that throws us.
Lezione 3
Taking Back Control
This is module three of managing anger, taking back control. So this is like you can imagine taking the reins of a chariot that you're holding, where it goes. And the chariot teams in ancient Greece showed their skills by guiding the chariots and horses out of harm's way by maintaining firm control of the reins, skilfully steering through the course.
Lezione 4
Pressing Pause
Now, we're starting to become more aware of our emotions, especially anger and difficult emotions. I'm sure you've probably overreacted in the heat of the moment and then regretted it afterwards. What happens if you take a pause?
Lezione 5
Everything Is A Learning Experience
This is seeing everything as a teaching or learning experience. So if nobody in your life made you feel angry, how would you learn patience? So you can probably think of at least a handful of people who've made you angry in your life. That's probably an underestimate, but there are probably people in your life who have made you angry.
Lezione 6
We Don't Have To Accept
We don't have to accept what is being given to us. If somebody else is getting angry, we don't have to respond with anger. We don't overcome anger with more anger. So if somebody gets angry with us, we're not going, and we get angry back at them. We doubled the amount of anger.
