Making Meditation A Habit

With Helen Pengelly

This is a 5-part course in making meditation a habit. Creating a regular practice is one of the biggest challenges for people when they start meditating. There are lots of things that can get in the way: self-sabotage, doubt, and not making it a priority. In this course, we’re going to explore ways to help you become successful in your meditation practice. Little and often is better than doing a longer session every now and then. We’ll go over some of the things that people find difficult when they start meditating regularly. Unless you make it a priority, it won’t happen. Practising often will have big results over time. In the first lesson, you’ll learn about how habits are formed, and apply this knowledge to your meditation practice. In the second lesson, you'll be setting intentions and goals. The third module is creating a favourable environment to set you up for success. The fourth lesson will explore different types of meditation and their benefits. Finally, we’ll wrap up with a practice that you can use going forward or adapt as you wish. By the end of this course, you’ll have everything in place for a successful, regular meditation practice.

Meet your Teacher

Helen is an accredited coach, EFT practitioner, and meditation teacher. In 2006, after attending a meditation workshop, she felt calmer than ever before. She joined a meditation class led by very experienced Buddhist teachers. There were no apps back then. She went on her first retreat in 2009. Since 2011, she’s been volunteering at retreat centres where she spends about 2 months each year and hangs out with some of the best Buddhist teachers. She qualified as a coach in 2014 and has been teaching and leading meditations since 2015. Helen uses what she’s learned through difficult life experiences to help others be happy, whatever. She uses her own unique blend of coaching, mindfulness, intuitive and spiritual powers, and EFT. She’s passionate about helping you heal from your past and live the life you’re here to enjoy.

Lesson 3

Creating A Favourable Environment

Creating a favourable environment depends on your living space. If you have somewhere for a dedicated space, that’s fantastic. It could be a corner with an inspiring picture, Buddha statue, angel, bodhisattva, flowers, candles, incense, crystals, or whatever inspires you. This becomes your cue for the new habit.

Lesson 4

The Benefits

In the previous lesson, you created a space that inspires you to meditate regularly. This is your cue for the habit. You’ve set your intention, and now let’s explore the benefits of meditation. Why are you doing this? You may already have your reasons.
