No doubt you have come across people, both men and women, who are determined to live as long as possible. I recall one guy who said he was determined to live to 100. Well and good. He exercised regularly and for a 54 year old looked very fit... but he smoked nearly a pack of cigarettes per day. What use is a long life, if we are incapacitated by a body that lacks vigor and a mind that lacks clarity? Lets look at the current research on healthspan and how we can apply it to our daily lives.
Nico is a semi-retired Tokyo resident and ardently practices what he preaches. He leads an active life and is engaged in creating online content, leading meditation sessions, maintaining fitness through exercise, and continuing with self-education projects.

Introduction
This is Part 2 of the course Mindful Retirement for Men. In this course, we consider some practical actions that we can implement to improve our health, especially if over the years we have spent working we have let personal mental health and fitness take a backseat to work and family.

Is it because it is simply a shared social experience and works to build bonds in the community, or is there scientific proof that sauna is actually "good" for us on a number of levels? We tend to forget that one of the most readily accessible agents of change in terms of physical fitness, is the simple act of walking. In this lesson, we talk about the numerous and often unexpected benefits of walking and of having a daily walking routine in place to help promote a healthy lifestyle in our retirement years.

Supplements That Work
The supplement industry is a vast machine that would have us take a myriad of additional substances into our bodies for any number of perceived benefits. Not many of these additions to our diet have any basis for effectiveness...however, some do. In this lesson, I will explore briefly the positive effects of some of these supplements.

Weight Management - To Glp, Or Not To Glp
These days the struggle with weight is a very real concern in the population. We can look at photographs of people sunbathing at the beach circa 1970 and note their slim bodies in comparison to today. What went wrong? There is strong research to suggest that it is insulin resistance that is at the core of this issue.... not just a matter of calories in and calories out. So how do we go about restoring our body function?

Resistance Training
Resistance training, using either body weight or dumbells and barbells, has many benefits as we age. During our working lives we may have been too busy with work and family to even consider spending time at the gym, however, we can increase our healthspan significantly by introducing weighted exercise in our weekly routines.

Meditation - The Numerous Benefits Of A Regular Daily Practice
The practice of meditation is ages old, and not only an Eastern practice. A lot of research continues to be conducted on the effects of mindfulness meditation on our lives and the way that we can enhance our experiences and reduce the negative aspects of modern life.
