Lesson 1
Introduction
Many people refer to "I Am That" by Nisargadatta Maharaj as being pivotal in their spiritual development and understanding. The voices of the seekers are genuine in their need to find an answer to the problems they face, but at times their inclusion can be a distraction from the guidance they receive. In subsequent lessons references to the text chapters are provided for further study.

Lesson 2
Silent Mind
So often our minds are filled by distractions that only function to occupy our time. In reality they act as a veil behind which dwells our true nature. Why don't we look reflectively in the silence that exists within us all? What happens when we do that? When we actually dwell in silence? (Reference 87)

Lesson 3
Be Aware Of Being Aware
This may be the missing element. In our meditations we are often engaged in more "mind-play" than we realise. We think that the chanting of mantras, the visualization we engage in and the various purifications that we attend may be enough...but we also have to bring a conscious awareness to those activities... otherwise it is only play. (Reference 68)

Lesson 4
Earnestness Is The Only Condition Of Success
We need to become aware of our inner lives. Through meditation practice we are able to identify for ourselves the fictions that appear in our mind...and more importantly what to do about them. What do we do with these emotionally charged phantoms that appear before us? (Reference 6)

Lesson 5
Behave Accordingly!
This is simply a stunning extract from I Am That. Perhaps Nisargadatta was expressing his frustration at the resistance he was witnessing in his visitor. The fact remains though, the visitor did seek his advice in a time of deep tribulation. Sometimes a guru has to shout to get through the defense! (Reference 51)
