When we are feeling guilty, we're in a state where two inner parts are at odds with each other. There's the 'educator' part, telling us what we did 'wrong', and there's the 'chooser' part (that chose the action), wanting to defend itself and its choice, from being educated. To relax this inner tension, we can use the 'guilt process' of Nonviolent Communication, seeing the beauty of both parts and empathizing deeply on the level of Needs for both. This 'inner mediation' (without a T) cultivates compassion for the conflicted inner voices and restores our inner harmony. Image: Getty
