Return To Rest — A Guided Meditation Series For Difficult Nights

With Abby Turner

A difficult night can make sleep feel frustrating, unsettling, or completely out of reach. Maybe you wake suddenly from a nightmare, feel anxious about closing your eyes and falling asleep, or find yourself wide awake in the middle of the night with a mind that simply won't quiet down. Return to Rest is a gentle three-part guided meditation collection designed to support you during those moments. Each meditation begins by helping you get comfortable, connect with your breathing, and bring your attention back into your body. From there, you'll be guided through calming techniques to help settle racing thoughts, release physical tension, and create an environment where rest can come more naturally. Inside the collection, you'll receive three guided practices: After the Nightmare A grounding meditation for those moments when you wake from a frightening or unsettling dream. You'll use your breath, body awareness, and your immediate surroundings to reconnect with the present moment and allow the dream to fade into the background. Safe to Fall Asleep A gentle meditation for nights when worry, fear, or an overactive mind makes falling asleep difficult. Instead of pressuring yourself to sleep, you'll practice softening the body, acknowledging anxious thoughts without following them, and giving yourself permission to simply rest. Back to Sleep Created for those middle-of-the-night awakenings when your body may be tired but your mind has decided it's time to start thinking. This meditation uses slow breathing, progressive relaxation, visualization, and simple mental cues to help you let go of tomorrow's worries and return your attention to rest. Rather than forcing sleep, Return to Rest encourages you to create the conditions for it—less tension, less pressure, quieter thoughts, and a greater sense of ease. Keep these meditations nearby for the nights when sleep doesn't go according to plan. You don't have to fight the night. Breathe. Soften. Let go. And Return to Rest.
