Lesson 1

Pain vs Suffering - Does Suffering Longer Make the Pain Bigger?

We all go through difficult experiences in our lives, this is part of it and this is what makes us grow. However, we really quickly judge an event and try to label it as good or bad because it gives us a certain sense of control. We want things to be “good” and when they are not, we feel hurt, disappointed, and depressed.

Lesson 2

How To Not Let Pain Control Your Life?

Slow down for a moment and reflect on how many times in your life has something “bad” happened that then turned into a blessing? I am sure you can think of a few examples. There will be pain in your life. You can’t escape it. What’s important is how to deal with suffering. You can decide to be wounded or to become wiser. To be a victim or to become a survivor.

Excellent insight into suffering. I think I learned it from my mother. Mine is complaining or not getting what I want. That’s the extent of my suffering. It is so superficial compared to others experiences. I do have abandonment issues and anxiety over I am not good enough. That’s what brings the most pain to my soul.

I really enjoyed your words because they were very confirming. My husband passed away this year and I was surprised that I wasn’t as devastated as I might have thought I would be. I immediately had to jump in to handling new things and in doing so I realized how empowered I was. I am a retired professional at knew I had the skills. I also feel a sense of independence in doing the things I want to do that I had been restricted in doing before. For example, my husband was a very private person where I have always been a social person who craves the interaction with others. I know he craved it as well, but was fearful of rejection which held us both back. I miss him terribly, but realize he is here with me every day coaching me on. I’m not sure what others believe but I have had a significant number of spiritual confirmations both electrical and physical shown to me by his spirit. To summarize, he had to die for me to be free. That’s oversimplification but truth.

Thank you for this course - short and very sweet! I espouse your ideas naturally but hearing the way you describe what pain is and how we then deal with the aftermath is very interesting - you simplify the process making it easier to grasp. These ideas can take time to fully comprehend, then implement. May I say take your time to ruminate. 🙏

Great talk reinforcing that there are gifts in pain. We do have choices on how we perceive pain and what we do. Thank you.

It is a challenge to deal with physical pain in the way you suggest to accept situational pain.

Thank you for these thoughts. Many I have heard before but it is good to revisit them and reevaluate my mindset. For me, having a daily gratitude practice has helped put my challenges in perspective. Very well done. I liked that it was short so I can revisit this course🙏🏻

Clear and insightful course, thank you 🙏 I find it easier to reframe, accept, respond to pain as a survivor when it's emotional. I'm finding much harder to apply your approach when dealing with physical pain. While pain meditation helps to an extent if the pain last longer than days, and go into weeks, I find accepting super challenging. Have you got any further thoughts that may help face physical pain?
