A Mindful Moment With Kind Thoughts For Kids (& Adults)
This is a short 'Mindful Moment with Kind Thoughts' practice. It offers kids a pause in their day with the addition of kind thoughts, a short metta practice for kids. It focuses on the breath, listening to the sound of the bowl ring and finishes with sending some simple kind thoughts to self and to others. 'May I be well and happy. May others be well and happy'. It can be used at any time of the day. Enjoy.

A mindful moment with kind thoughts.
So let's get our mindful bodies on.
So sitting open and upright,
Still and strong like a mountain,
Or perhaps you're lying on your back,
Balanced and symmetrical.
Palms are open,
Resting on your lap,
Resting over your belly,
Or resting by your side.
Please close or lower your eyes.
And start with three delicious deep belly breaths to help calm your body and mind.
Activate your parasympathetic nervous system.
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Just let your breath settle now.
Let your breath breathe you and shift your focus now to the sound of the bowl.
You're just listening until you can no longer hear it ring.
Let's finish our mindful moment with some kind thoughts.
So as you breathe in,
Say silently in your mind,
May I be well and happy.
And as you breathe out,
May others be well and happy.
And you might like to picture in your mind some friends or your family,
A group or an individual on your out-breath.
And picture yourself on your in-breath.
So breathing in,
May I be well and happy.
Breathing out,
May others be well and happy.
Breathing in,
May I be well and happy.
Breathing out,
May others be well and happy.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Thank you.
