COURSE

Thieves Of Joy: Worry And Blame

With Mitesh Oswal

This is an experiential exploration of the Truth of finding happiness and peace in our daily lives. In this course, we contemplate the uselessness of worrying and blaming that give rise to daily frustration and unhappiness in our lives. We systematically dive into how worrying gives us a false sense of control over situations and people; and in the process, we suffer a lot. We also see how blaming others only creates rifts and fuels the self-righteousness within us and alienates us from others. These are socially accepted and tolerated habits that need to be seen as habits that are detrimental to our mental and emotional well-being. We are all invited to this deep dive into how to cultivate happiness and peace in our lives.

Lesson 1

Worry Steals Joy!

In this lesson, we delve into the pervasive habit of worrying that steals joy from our daily lives. We all have tendencies to fixate on potential problems and uncertainties but these only fuel the unproductive habit of worry which ends up being detrimental to or mental well-being. Through personal personal experiences and rational insights, the notion that worrying helps in any way is challenged, emphasizing the false sense of control it provides. Encouraging a shift from being stuck in problems to actively seeking solutions, the lesson explores the courage required to break free from the familiar but harmful habit of worrying. With a focus on the choice to embrace hope, face solutions, and let go of unnecessary anxieties, we are all guided towards a happier, more peaceful existence. The lesson concludes with a powerful reminder that life is not here to harm us, but rather, it is within us, and our choices determine how we walk through it.

Lesson 2

The Blame Game

In this lesson, we explore the concept of contemplation as a unique and often overlooked practice. Distinguishing it from ordinary thinking, contemplation is an experiential form of thought focused on uncovering the truth in the current moment. Then we explore the habitual nature of blame, and how individuals frequently assign responsibility for their unhappiness to external factors, be it people, circumstances, or nature itself. The lesson challenges this deeply ingrained habit of blaming, urging us all to recognize the flawed model of happiness that underlies such tendencies. Drawing on personal experiences and societal observations, the teacher encourages a gentle release of the blame game, fostering a collective understanding that we are all imperfectly perfect beings striving for the universal goal of a worry-less, relaxed, and joyous state. We end the session with an invitation to embrace contemplation as a tool for self-awareness and liberation from the cycle of blame, offering a pathway to genuine happiness.

The teacher was making long pauses after each sentence, and speaking quite monotonously. I kept losing track of what was being said. What I did grasp was rather obvious. Maybe this course just wasn't for me

Thank you for this meditation. It is precisely what I need to hear and I will be listening to it again. The long pauses were challenging as I started but it forced me to slow down and process what I was hearing. Thank you.
