Too Much And Not Enough: Breaking Free From The Impossible Standard

With Rianna Hijlkema

You are either doing too much or you are not doing enough. Sometimes both at once, in different areas of your life. You pour everything into work and neglect the people you love. You give everything to your family and lose yourself completely. You try to be a good partner, a good parent, a good employee, a good friend, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, you stop being a good anything, because you are running on empty and still convinced you are falling short. This is not a time management problem. It is not a productivity problem. It is a deeper question about where your sense of worth has been living, and what you have been trying to prove with your effort, your output, and your constant availability. This course is for anyone who recognises that cycle. The overachiever who still feels like a fraud. The parent who is always present but never quite there. The partner who gives and gives and starts resenting. The professional who cannot switch off. The person who wakes up tired and goes to bed guilty, regardless of what they did that day. If you have ever felt like the dial has two settings and neither of them is right, this course is for you. Over five lessons, you will understand where the too much and not enough pattern actually comes from, what it is really protecting you from, how it plays out differently across work, parenting, relationships, and your relationship with yourself, and what it actually looks and feels like to find a different way of measuring your worth that does not depend on output, approval, or exhaustion. This course includes teaching, personal story, guided reflection, and journal prompts. Each lesson is a conversation, not a lecture. There are no quick fixes here, but there is a way through.

Meet your Teacher

Rianna is a full-time traveler and serial entrepreneur since 2011. She is currently based in Bali, although rarely in one place for long. She has spent years working closely with women, as a teacher, a school director, a postpartum doula, and a coach, sitting with them through some of the most honest and tender conversations of their lives. The too much and not enough pattern is one she has lived herself, watched play out in hundreds of women around her, and never once seen solved by trying harder to get it right. She made this course because she wished someone had sat down with her and had this conversation years earlier.

Lesson 1

This Trap Has A Name

The too much and not enough paradox is not a personal flaw. It is a system. This lesson shows you where the pattern came from, shows you how contradictory messages got installed long before you had any say in it, and reframes the question from 'what is wrong with me' to what is this standard I have been handed.

Lesson 2

Too Much, Not Enough — In Love And Relationships

In relationships, the trap sounds like being too needy when you ask for what you need, and not lovable enough to deserve it. This lesson explores why so many women shrink themselves or overcompensate in love, why both come from the same belief, and what starts to change when you bring a little more of the real you into the room.

Lesson 3

Too Much, Not Enough — At Work

Too loud when you speak up, not qualified enough when you lead. This lesson looks at the specific double standard women navigate professionally, why imposter syndrome is this trap, rather than a confidence problem, and how to stop letting it shrink your voice in rooms where you belong.

Lesson 4

Too Much, Not Enough — In Parenting (Motherhood)

Too overwhelmed, too impatient, and somehow still not doing enough. This lesson talks about the double standard of modern motherhood, names the guilt at the centre of it, and looks at where the impossible standard came from and why your children do not need you to meet it.

Lesson 5

What It Feels Like To Be Exactly Enough

This final lesson is not about finding balance, because balance is still a measurement. It is about dropping the measurement entirely. You will explore what it feels like to be present without monitoring yourself, why the change happens through small real moments rather than mindset work, and leave with one concrete thing to do in the next day.
