Lesson 1

Ocean Breath For Inner Calm

Ujjayi Pranayama (breath regulating technique) is a soft, whispering breath which is also called victorious breath, or ocean breath. Ujjayi pranayama may help to improve the quality of voice. It may act against hypothyroidism, asthma, high pulse rate, and high blood pressure. It may also be used to improve attention, manage anxiety, and stabilize energy in the body. We will practice calming ocean breath.

The Power Of Slow Breathing

Slow Deep Breathing has numerous benefits. They reduce stress and anxiety, improve quality of sleep, improve cardiovascular health, reduce pain, strengthen our lungs, and nourish our overall health and wellness. Increasing the rhythm of our breath using space and numbers can help us improve our strength and willpower. Today we will practice deep breathing with an 8 8-second balancing rhythm to awaken inner peace.

Lesson 3

Humming Bee Breath

Bhramari pranayama - Queen bee or Humming bee breath is a quick and effective practice that is scientifically proven to help you calm your mind during normal, everyday moments of life and in times of stress. The vibrations from the humming sound have a natural calming effect, produce nitric oxide ( nature's true gift for relaxation), and give immediate relief from tension, worry, anger, stress, and anxiety. Note: Do this session without headphones because we will place our index fingers in our ear cartilage to enhance the effects of the bee breath.

Box Breathing

Box breathing lowers the body's natural stress response. It can signal your brain that you're safe. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps you feel calm and relaxed. Box breathing can assist in emerging from a stressful state. The result is a state of serenity and relaxation in both the body and mind. Box breathing helps you to sleep when you are having insomnia.

4-7-8 Breathing

The 4-7-8 breathing technique can be used to relax when you're feeling stressed or anxious. The exercise helps regulate the hormone cortisol, which controls your fight or flight response. It is a great technique to practice before you go to sleep as well. 4-7-8 or Dr Andrew Weil's breathwork stimulates the vagus nerve, which engages the body’s relaxation response, and can positively impact cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems.

As we know, we are not our emotions, but using emotions work for us will help us have a peaceful, better self and life. Today we will practice ocean breath and deep breathing with extended exhalation to cultivate peace in our emotions.
