This course aims to guide participants towards a greater sense of joy and contentment in life. The objectives of the course include listening to an audio track every other day to develop mindfulness, learning to observe thoughts without judgment or reactivity, shifting away from negative automatic thinking, cultivating the ability to recognize and appreciate positive elements in daily life, and ultimately experiencing increased happiness regardless of external circumstances. By following this structured approach, participants will gain valuable tools and insights to foster mindfulness, develop a positive mindset, and enhance their overall well-being


Meet your Teacher

For 20 years, Joni Sturgill has shared insights on mental, emotional and physical wellness to individuals, corporate populations, therapists, educators, and students of her training programs. Joni is a licensed professional counselor, with a Master’s degree in Psychology, and an advanced mindfulness and yoga educator. She’s developed and led professional training programs in a multitude of settings. She is a poet, a writer, speaker, and mom of two adult children.

Lesson 1

Understanding Your Auto-pilot

In this session, you'll gain insight into your mind and its automatic responses to life's circumstances. You'll learn how to mindfully watch your thoughts, without judging them. This is a practice, so be patient and gentle with yourself.

Lesson 2

Journaling for Understanding

Even if you've never kept a journal before, I invite you to be open to the idea for this session. I'll offer you a mindfulness practice, followed by some specific prompts. I'll leave you a bit of time to either write or reflect on your responses, and I'll offer suggestions for brief journaling practices for the next couple of days.

Lesson 3

Gratitude is the Attitude

I know, gratitude might seem cliché but it works! In this session I'll explain why gratitude practices help to rewire our brains to see another perspective. We will practice a gratitude meditation and I'll give you homework to practice for the next 30 days - that's right - beyond the length of this course. You won't regret it.

Lesson 4

Authentically Complimenting Yourself and Others

In this session, we will continue with the practice of shifting our mindset to more positive. We will meditate on a positive quality about ourselves, and then use this as a practice out in our interactions with others.

Lesson 5

Putting Positivity to Practice

Changing your mindset takes time, effort, and practice. We will summarize what you've learned so far, and I'll emphasize what you can practice to continue a path of growth. Holding space for all your experiences, good and bad, is essential for a full life!

I really enjoyed this course, I tend to be a pessimist and love people who can remind me how to be more positive. It really has helped me grow and this course has helped in that manner to, for example, just thinking of the earth as a pale blue dot, and not taking life so seriously is such an important concept.
