A warm welcome to this morning meditation designed to support you in starting your day with awareness,
Clarity and inspiration.
Beginning your day in this way can have a profound impact on your attitude,
Perspective and the way in which you interact with the world around you.
By allowing yourself this gift of mindful presence,
You are cultivating a sense of expanded awareness and possibility.
How exciting!
So let's begin by settling into a comfortable position and closing down your eyes if you like letting the landscape of your awareness turn inwards to the melody and rhythm of your inner world this morning.
And as you settle in,
Drawing your awareness to your personal experience of waking this morning I'm curious,
Did you enjoy a gentle waking or were you woken more suddenly?
Did you wake with a sense of striving,
Already armed and ready to get things done?
Or did you wake in a more relaxed being state,
Open to the gentle flow and possibility of the day?
What were the nature of your thoughts upon first waking?
Were they dreamy,
Lucid or creative?
Were they focused on tasks and activities for today?
Or perhaps on the happenings of yesterday?
How would you describe the tone of these early morning thoughts?
Were they gentle?
Were they critical?
Did they feel hopeful and optimistic?
Or more cautionary and reserved?
Did you wake with a sense of kindness and acceptance towards yourself?
Or was the experience of waking less gentle?
Resting here in this reflection of your experience of first waking.
Nothing to do with these reflections,
Just being open and curious.
Awakening our senses now.
Noticing the morning sounds in your environment.
Noticing sounds far off in the distance.
Noticing sounds closer to you.
Taking in all these morning sounds.
Sensing your stillness amidst the morning soundscape.
Feeling safe within the movement of the morning.
Noticing your clothes as they touch your skin.
Noticing the touch of your breath moving in and out of your body.
Noticing any sense of taste within your mouth.
Colors moving across your eyelids.
Subtle smells moving in and out of your awareness.
Waking our senses up to this new day.
Offering yourself a gentle smile of appreciation for making meditation a priority this morning.
For inviting in the gift of awareness,
Peace and inspiration.
For waking up to the hope of this new day.
Breathing into this sense of smile for a moment or two.
Allowing it to soften and spread across your body.
This sense of smile softening across your eyes.
Across your cheeks.
Across your jaw.
This sense of smile softening your shoulders.
Your chest.
With one deep intentional breath,
This sense of smile moving into your stomach.
Your hips and pelvis.
This sense of smile softening all the way down your legs.
To your feet and toes.
Down your arms.
To your hands and fingers.
Allowing this sense of smile and softening to seep further into your body.
Into your organs.
Bones and blood.
Drawing your awareness now to your breath.
Your life force.
Coming home to your breath.
It's gentle rhythm and flow.
Moving your awareness now to your exhale.
Long and smooth.
Noticing a sense of relaxation that comes with this exhale.
Resting here in this sense of relaxation.
And so I ask you,
Is there something you may wish to let go of here in this safe space you have created?
Something that is making you feel heavy,
Tight or even dull.
Something that may prevent you from embracing the potential of this new day.
As you continue to focus on your exhale,
Can you imagine that whatever is holding you back is leaving your mind,
Body and heart?
Noticing any sense of lightness,
Spaciousness or relief that emerges from within this act of letting go.
Breathing into any sense of freedom or ease.
From within this act of letting go,
You have created an opening,
A sense of space and possibility.
I wonder,
What would you like to invite into this space this morning?
What would you like to cultivate more of in your life?
Would you like to invite in more calm,
More patience or forgiveness?
Perhaps you would like to welcome more self-acceptance,
Compassion or confidence.
Or is it more fun,
Joy and creativity you desire?
Drawing your awareness now to your inhale.
And as you inhale,
Noticing the way your chest expands at the front,
The back and the sides.
And can this sense of physical expansion also encourage a sense of expanded awareness?
A sense of possibility and of hope within you.
And as you inhale,
Imagining you are breathing in the very essence of this part of you that you wish to grow.
Each in breath you are breathing this part of you awake,
Alive and vibrant.
And can you welcome this part of you with a warm smile?
Taking a moment now imagining yourself moving through your day with this quality you have just invited in.
How do you feel in your body?
How does it feel in your heart?
What interactions with others look and feel like?
Take a nice deep breath into this image of today,
Letting it sink into your mind,
Body and heart.
Resting in this sense of hope and inspiration for a few final moments.
Beginning to deepen your breath and offering your body any movements it desires.
Opening your eyes to your new day,
May it be filled with awareness,
Intention and inspiration.
Thank you for watching!
