Sleep Series: Just For Tonight

With Reuben Lowe

Learn about the ancient origins of each day. Reflect on it's energy. Close off the day, and drift away. This is your daily guided sleep meditation for every night of the week. It’s a guided reflection of your day, followed by a gentle closing of the evening. Each of these recordings have a familiar theme and structure to them. These have been designed this way. What you are likely to find is that you naturally make an association of restful sleep with every one of the seven recordings, because of the familiar structure. The current seven day week was created by the Roman Empire. And they ascribed a particular energy to each day of the week. For these seven 'Just For Tonight' meditations, at the very start of each meditation, we are simply going to explore these qualities that have been ascribed to each day in question. This is where the guided reflection of your day takes place, if you choose to reflect upon this. Then there’s a guided closing off for the evening. If you haven’t started to drift away by then, the high quality water audio frequency is sure to activate your alpha brain wave state, aiding a deep and restful sleep. Getting started is easy. You simply need to use the specific meditation for the day in question. Then, let go and drift away.

For Monday Night (The Moon)

Monday is coming to a close. Monday is the moon’s day. The Latin word for moon is "lunae," which explains why in so many languages the word for Monday includes "lu" or "lun." Named after Máni, the Viking personification of the moon. The moon has been associated with emotion. You can choose to listen and gently reflect. Or you can choose to allow the words to flow through you, without reflecting upon them, as you drift off into restful sleep.

Lesson 2

For Tuesday Night (Mars)

Tuesday is coming to a close. Tuesday is named after the planet Mars. In languages like French, Spanish, and Italian the name for Tuesday starts with "mar." The English word comes from the Old English Tiu's day; Tiu was the Viking god of war, who was associated with the planet Mars. No effort in thinking is required. If anything arises, allow it. If nothing arises, be the witness to the stillness and space within you.

For Wednesday Night (Mercury)

In most romance languages, the word for Wednesday starts with "merc," though in English the name of the day comes from Woden's day, which pays tribute to the Viking god Odin. Relax and gently allow yourself to compare the energies of this evening, or simply allow the words to flow through you as you absorb the background choir.

Lesson 7

For Sunday Night (The Sun)

Sunday is coming to a close. Sunday is the Day of The Sun. This is straight forward in the English language. However, most Romance languages adopted a different name for the day, based on Christian beliefs. For example, in Italian the name of the day is Domenico, which means "Day of the Lord." Relax and gently allow yourself to compare the energies of this evening, or simply allow the words to flow through you as you absorb the background choir.

I enjoyed the sound of his voice and background effects relaxing. I liked the ritual of him describing what each day was named after, some word prompts to think about the prior day, and the prompts to let the day end. I will likely repeat this course sometime.

Reuben’s voice is calming and I liked the information about the names of the days. I’m not a big fan of running water in the background, personally but the music was fine. A nice way to end the day. Thanks Reuben 😊

I haven’t done it all yet, as I started with Sunday, but I think it’s a fantastic idea, and I fell asleep very very quickly. Thank you so much and what a great idea!! I’ll go through the rest of it.

Loved this Reuben, however I didn’t always hear the end of each night as I was already asleep, so thank you 😊. I will certainly listen to them all again and it will be interesting to see if anything changes with how I resonate with each day. Much gratitude….blessings 💖🌺🙏😊

Hey Reuben, the Sleep Series is absolutely wonderful. I love the beginnings when one is told about the millenial origin of the name of each day and thus it feels as if walking through a telescopic tunnel into the velvet night sky with its planets. It makes one feel connected to the universe and has helped me to fall asleep within one of the hardest week of the current year. The different characteristics of the week days illuminate the experiences during daylight and their echo blends in so truly into the beautiful background sounds and music. These tracks offer a little protected space where one can find peace and strength. Thank you for this beautiful idea.
