Lesson 1

What Is Meditation And Mindfulness

If you are here it means that you’ve heard about meditation before and have either tried it and loved it or tried it and found it awkward and difficult and hard to do on your own. Or maybe you’ve gotten a taste of it at the end of a yoga class and wanted to try it and haven’t because it seems intimidating or it’s not something you think you can do. Maybe you’ve done it and you want to learn more about it. It’s also possible that you saw the course and felt drawn to sign up without having meditated before at all. Well, today, you're going to be introduced to both meditation and mindfulness. And by the end, you'll have a clear understanding of what they are and what benefits they can bring in to your life.

Lesson 2

Let's Meditate!

Ever since I learned meditation, I’ve been eager to share what I know with others so that I can pass on the gifts that I found during one of the most difficult times in my life. I hope this practice opens up new pathways to peace and joy in your life and the lives of those around you. To that end, let’s dive in and get you meditating right away. That’s one of my favorite things about meditation - that it is so profoundly simple a child can do it, while also being so rich with possibility that you can spend a lifetime exploring it. For now, take a deep breath in and out, and let’s learn to meditate. When you're done listening to the audio, make sure to check out a guided breath awareness practice to start practicing.

Lesson 3

Three Meditations To Reduce Your Suffering

Yesterday, you learned the basics of meditation. What it is, what it requires, and how to do it - the process of it. You’ve also learned the most common meditation practice - breath awareness. While I believe the meditation technique we covered yesterday is an excellent place to start, everyone is different, so I also believe it’s good to try different types of meditations or at least be aware of them, because you may find you like some of them better, or you may find that in combination with other techniques, they help you deepen your awareness even further. So today I’ll be sharing other types of Buddhist meditation so you can experiment with these as well. Remember to listen to the audio first and then check out a metta, gratitude, and wisdom, or self-inquiry meditation.

Lesson 4

What Stops Us From Meditating (And What To Do About It)

Today, we're going to look at what can hold us back from meditating and how to break through the obstacles that get in the way. Know that if you're experiencing any resistance to making this a part of your day-to-day, you aren't alone!

Lesson 5

1-Day Home Meditation Retreat

Today is a day to think about taking your practice a bit deeper. This is great for those just starting out with meditation and for those who have been meditating for a while. A mini at home retreat! It works for those who have time and those who don't, as you can choose how you set it up. As we've come to the last day of the How to Meditate Like a Buddhist Course, the biggest thing to remember is that meditation is a practice, which means some days you’re going to want to do it and other days you’re not going to want to. Please be gentle with yourself. If you need to stop for a bit, make a plan for how and when you will come back. Know that you can always, always, begin again. My wish for you is that you can take the practice of meditation and make it doable for you so that the benefits can flow into your life. You've Got This!
