5 Day Introduction To Meditation

With Hearon Dickson

Have you been curious about meditation but unsure of where to start? Scientifically validated benefits of meditation include reduced blood pressure, reduced stress, improved sleep, and decreased anxiety. In this 5 day introduction to meditation course we will learn about the history and benefits of meditation and learn about the 4 classical types of meditation: breathing, insight, inquiry or self-inquiry, and loving kindness, or metta meditation. Each day we will focus on one of the 4 types of meditation and then practice that meditation for about 5 minutes. Join me and begin to explore the many benefits of a meditation practice!

Meet your Teacher

Hearon has been teaching yoga and meditation for 5 years, following 200 hour teacher training courses in both practices. His goal is to help students, in accordance with the yoga sutras, "restrain the modifications of the mindstuff." In other words, achieve greater peace of mind through the practices of yoga and meditation. Hearon was in his 50's when he took his first yoga class and he is passionate about introducing yoga and meditation to those who might not otherwise experience them so that they can realize the same benefits that he has.

Lesson 1

Day One: What Is Meditation?
