In this meditation, we will connect with our breath and then do a counting breathing meditation. Focusing on the breath is a fairly simple meditation technique in that it provides us with a clear target for the focus of our attention. Whenever our mind wanders or our thoughts stray, we bring our attention back to the breath.

Thank you for joining me for this relatively brief breathing meditation.

Make sure you're seated comfortably.

Make sure your clothes are loose around you to allow for easy breathing.

If it is comfortable for you,

Close your eyes.

Let's relax our jaw.

Relax our shoulders.

Try to release any excess tension we may feel in our bodies.

Let's take a nice,

Big,

Slow inhale into the nose,

A brief hold,

And then exhale out of the mouth.

Once again,

Inhale into the nose,

Holding that briefly,

And let it go.

Begin to establish that breathing pattern in and out in a manner comfortable for you.

Breath is a very powerful tool for relaxation.

It's accessible to us at any moment in our life.

Allow yourself to be relaxed by your breath,

Imagining that you're breathing in peace and calm.

Inhaling,

And as you exhale,

Your diaphragm relaxes,

And so do you.

Breathing in tranquility,

And a brief hold,

Breathing out,

Relaxing.

Keep your focus on the breath.

Breathing in deeply,

Breathing out into relaxation.

When we concentrate on our breath,

Even when our thoughts stray,

We're practicing the art of meditation.

It's perfectly fine if you have interruptive thoughts come in.

As soon as you notice those thoughts,

Just return those thoughts to the breath.

Breathing in that peace,

Breathing out into that relaxation.

So now we're going to count as we breathe.

On the inhale,

We count one.

On the exhale,

We count two.

The next breath in will be three,

And the next exhale is four.

I will guide you up to 10.

Inhale one,

Exhale two.

Breathing in three,

Breathing out four.

Inhaling five,

Exhaling six.

Inhaling seven,

Exhaling eight.

One more breath in,

Nine,

And a breath out,

10.

Become aware of your level of relaxation right now.

In times of stress or worry,

If we consciously breathe,

We may find that we can relax.

And if you need some extra support,

Simply count along with the breaths up to 10,

And then returning to one,

Repeating as many times as works for you.

Let's take one more nice big inhale into the nose together,

And a nice big exhale out of the mouth.

Thank you very much.

Have a wonderful day.
