Hello,
This is Dr.
Tracey Moreno and I want to talk to you about the upcoming holidays.
The holidays can be such a fun,
Wonderful time.
We create a lot of great memories,
Have a lot of laughs.
We get to be around friends and family that we haven't seen in a long time.
But it's not like this for everyone.
Most people don't have a picture perfect family like it's portrayed in social media and on movies and TV.
In fact,
There are many more dysfunctional families out there than there are functional families.
So you are definitely not alone if the thought of being around family is stressful to you.
This is a quick affirmation meditation that can be used before and during family events.
If you need to just walk outside or excuse yourself to go to the restroom and just take a little break and do this quick meditation to center yourself,
Get you back on track and get the right frame of mind before you re-enter.
So go ahead and find a place to sit and gently close the eyes and begin to breathe.
Follow that breath as it comes in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Go ahead and take one of your hands and put it on your chest right over your heart and tune your attention inward to that heartbeat.
Find the rhythm.
This is who you are.
Who you are at your heart and soul.
I will give myself grace.
I will be patient.
I will be kind.
I will stay true to myself and my character even when faced with negativity,
Judgment,
Or criticism.
I will call upon duck medicine when needed so that the words and actions of others will roll off my back like a duck.
I will focus on what's positive and let go of what's not.
I acknowledge that my time with family is temporary and more time is never guaranteed.
Therefore I will appreciate and cherish the time I have with them now.
Now you can clear your mind.
Take a big cleansing deep breath and know that you're not alone.
You don't have to feel badly.
You don't have to feel guilty.
This is a normal part of being in a family.
Remind yourself that you've got this.
Wishing you strength,
Patience,
And tolerance this holiday season.
