It is a philosophy of life that maximizes positive emotions, reduces negative emotions, and helps individuals to hone their virtues of character. Through this course, we will take a look at its history, its tents, and its major figures who are all the way from a slave to the Emperor of Rome.

Introduction to Stoicism
What is Stoicism and where does it come from? Stoicism acts as the basis of Western philosophical thought on the subjects of personal growth, fulfillment, discipline, and wisdom. In this Lesson, Silas will introduce you to Stoicism, where it was founded, and what it represents.

The Four Stoic Virtues
In this lesson, Silas will cover the Four main stoic virtues of Wisdom, Self-discipline, Courage, and justice and how Stoicism understood them to help us in our daily life and in our internal world.

Epictetus: Controlling Your Thoughts
In this lesson Silas will give a short teaching on the life and times of the stoic philosopher followed by a reflective and meditative reading of some of Epictetus's most famous sayings and works. The music used for the reading is freely given by Scott Buckley, Song name Hiraeth

Seneca: The Opinions of Others and the Internal World
In this lesson, Silas will give a short teaching on the life of the Roman Stoic philosopher Seneca, followed by a meditative reading of some of his most famous sayings and works. The music within is freely provided by Scott Buckley, a song named Hiraeth.

Marcus Aurelius: Self-Reflection & Self-Control

This is a great introduction to stoicism. I enjoyed listening to the quotes/teachings with the meditation music in the background after a brief overview of the life of the philosopher.
