The Wheel Of The Year In Full Moons

With Julie Peters

Before our modern calendars, cultures worldwide marked time by moons rather than by calendar months. Throughout the US, Canada, Europe, China, and many other places in the Northern Hemisphere, the moons had special names and special meanings that could give us clues about how to work with our bodies and spirits according to the season we're in. As we move through this course, we'll learn about the Harvest Moon, the Cold Moon, the Mead Moon, the Wolf Moon, and more. We'll also learn about the ancient Celtic Wheel of the Year, which are solar celebrations observed by many modern witches that mark time by the movement of the Sun in the Northern Hemisphere. This course will help you connect to your body, mind, and spirit through seasonal solar and lunar wisdom throughout the course of a year. There is a lesson full of information about each month's moon plus the Thirteenth Moon or Blue Moon that happens every couple of years. There is also an attending meditation to help you get to know the Wheel of the Year celebration for that month or otherwise lean into the energies of that specific month. You are welcome to listen to all the lessons and meditations at your own pace, but if you like you can wait until a new month or a new full moon arises and listen to the lessons then. You may wish to start in January, but you're welcome to jump in wherever you are in the Wheel of the Year.

Lesson 2

January Meditation: Loneliness Practice

The Hungry Moon can be a particularly lonely time. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, though. If we can sit with our feelings of loneliness this month, it may teach us something about what we really want when we're ready to start moving forward with our goals later in the year.

Lesson 3

February Lunation: Budding Moon

In this class, we'll learn about the subtle but powerful shift of the light in February. This may still feel like a Snow Moon, but the light changes in such a way that we become sure that spring is coming eventually. February also houses Imbolc, the ancient cross-quarter feast day of the goddess Brigid.

Ostara marks the spring equinox, usually on March 21st. In this moment of balance, we are also inviting the brighter half of the year, with its warmth, fertility, and growth of the buds and flowers of the earth. This meditation will help you connect to these themes and ritualized Ostara for you.

Lesson 8

April Lunation: Awakening Moon

My favourite name for April's lunation is the Moon When Streams Again Become Nagivable, from the Dakota people. There's something about April where there is a final melting of the winter and we actually start to feel the change in the weather and the light. It's a very encouraging time and often "awakens" something in us.

Lesson 9

April Meditation: Intuitive Movement

This meditation is actually a moving meditation, so you'll want to have some space with a yoga mat or clean carpet or floor underneath you. You don't need any experience or to do anything in particular to try this, it's all about moving from an intuitive place to help awaken those places within you that are still somewhat frozen. You are welcome to do it with or without music.

June Lunation: Strawberry Moon

In June we celebrate the coming of the berries, the magic and abundance of the earth, and the Summer Solstice, which is the peak moment of sunlight in the year (if not necessarily the peak of warmth). Please note I mispronounce Litha in this lesson, it is LEE-tha, not LIH-tha.

Lesson 13

June Meditation: Litha Celebration

In this meditation, we will connect with the peak energy of the sun on the Summer Solstice. You could do this on the day of the Summer Solstice (usually June 21st) and, if you like, do it outside. You could lay out on the earth in the sunshine (but be sun-safe or choose shade). Invite the powerful energy of the Sun as you celebrate Litha.

It took me the whole year of 2025 to move with this course, intentionally visiting each month chronologically. I know I'm going to repeat it, not only to pick up or be reminded of morsels of wisdom but because it was so nice to have somewhere to visit all year long. I really enjoyed and am grateful for the space you have created. Many thanks!

Awesome course on so many levels. Julie, for me, has a relaxing style of speaking & a relaxing online presence … she makes her delivery sound more like hearing a friend talk - with little bits of laughter playing in and out at times - she keeps it feeling ‘real’! Loved all the New Moon introductions ‘n the Full Moon meditations - tho’ I only took part in some of them tbh … could aim to go back ‘n dip into parts of the course I missed / passed on. Particularly got a lot from the ‘seasonal wellness’ tips ‘n the meanings of the individual moons for different cultures ‘n the practices you could tap into during different moons. Thank you so much Julie - from Vee (Veronica) x
