Do you have a relationship with the moon? Would you like to learn more about the energies and meanings of each phase of the moon and the practices you can do to support your intuition, physical health, and spiritual wellness? If so, this course is for you, fellow lunatic. Start with the lesson on the energies and meanings of a New Moon, and then practice the attending meditation. If you like, listen on an actual new moon or simply do it on your own time. The Waxing, Full, and Waning phases each have an audio lesson and an accompanying meditation so you can get a sense of the mood of each phase of the moon. In addition, there are two bonus lessons, one on Menstruation and the Moon and another on how to apply these cyclic ideas to a 24-hour day. Take in the information and see how it resonates (or not) with your body, the season, the time of your life, and whatever else feels relevant for you. Connect with your intuition, body, heart, and mind through the wisdom of the eternal, ever-changing Moon.


Meet your Teacher

Julie Peters is a yoga and meditation teacher and counselor living and working in Edmonton, Alberta, in Treaty 6 Territory (Amiskwaciy Waskahikan—Plains Cree land). She is a staff writer for Spirituality and Health Magazine and is the author of Secrets of the Eternal Moon Phase Goddesses: Meditations on Desire, Relationships, and the Art of Being Broken and the Canada Book Award-winning Want: 8 Steps to Recovering Desire, Passion, and Pleasure After Sexual Assault (Mango Media 2019). New Moon Meditation for Calling in Desire

This meditation is designed to be done on or around the New Moon phase. It includes some contemplation about desire and intentions, and we focus some attention on the low belly and pelvis, an area that relates to our desires and creativity. You may like to have a pen and paper handy so you can write down what comes up for you.

Lesson 3

Waxing Moon: Energies and Meanings

In this lesson, we talk about the energies of the Waxing Moon phase and the practices that might be supportive of this particular time in the month. You may like to listen during a Waxing Moon phase, the peak of which is called the First Quarter, about a week after the New Moon, or just listen when it works for you and apply the ideas when the next Waxing Moon comes around.

Good Morning Meditation for the Waxing Moon

This is a meditation oriented around waking up, setting your intentions, and going for it. This is the ideal energy to work with around the Waxing Moon and can be done any morning during the Waxing Moon cycle.

Lesson 5

Menstruation and the Moon (Bonus Lesson)

If you menstruate, does your menstrual cycle line up with the moon? In this lesson, we explore how a menstrual cycle can reflect the energies of a moon cycle. We also talk about the White, Red, Pink, and Purple moon cycles and what they might indicate about the energies that are playing a role in your life right now.

Full Moon: Energies and Meanings

In this class, we explore the mood of the Full Moon and practices that might be most supporting during this phase.

Lesson 7

Full Moon Meditation for Clearing and Letting Go

This meditation can help you align with the clearing and letting go aspect of the Full Moon phase. It can also help with looking at where you're at in your life and what you might want to change. You could do this outside or near a window where you can gaze at the full moon itself, if you'd like.

Lesson 8

The 24 Hour Cycle (Bonus Lesson)

The moon has a long relationship with menstruation, but what if we don't menstruate? There are other ways of looking at how a 24-hour cycle might feel if you don't have a menstrual cycle to compare it to. Here are some thoughts on how the cycle of a day could work if we were in alignment with our energies and the light of the moon as well as the sun.

Waning Moon: Energies and Meanings

In this lesson, we explore the mood of the Waning Moon and the practices that might best support you during this time. It's all about being boring--in the best possible way.

Lesson 10

Waning Moon Meditation: Pratyahara (Hearing Meditation)

This is a practice from the yogic tradition which is technically the preparation stage before meditation in the same way that the Waning Moon is, in some ways; it's a preparation for the deep reflection of the New Moon. We use the sense of hearing, in this case, to allow our focus to soften on simply where we are and what is happening in the present moment. Rather than trying to "do" anything in particular, we work with the stimuli available to draw deeper into ourselves.

Overall a good concept but I kept getting too hung up on the menstrual aspect. I get the connection and it's interesting, but I feel like it was too heavy throughout the entire course. I found the other aspects more entertaining and educational and beneficial.

I found your Moon poetry on YouTube at Vancouver Poetry House. I live in Abbotsford. I have recently been exploring my own fascination with the Moon, going so far as to name my authentic self Luna Solterra. I created a calendar that turns the motion of the moon into an annual sine wave. You can find it on Substack in the publication, The Apocrypha. The calendar is intended to focus attention on the relationships of the gravity of the celestial bodies that give us our sense of time and this possibility of life. So, I titled the article Life Cycle. “The word apocryphal (ἀπόκρυφος) was first applied to writings which were kept secret because they were the vehicles of esoteric knowledge considered too profound or too sacred to be disclosed to anyone other than the initiated.” — Wikipedia

Thank you so much for this enlightening course! I particularly found the class about mensauration fascinating as I was due for my period to start on the full moon, it came the next morning which means I am close to being on the red moon cycle. In recent years I’ve been more aligned with my spirituality and feel like a witch at times so it really resonated with me. Happy mooning 🌕💖✨🙏

I enjoyed a lot of the information, but as a post-menopausal female, I didn’t really resonate with how closely it was tied to the menstrual cycle. I also found the final meditation to be a complete nonsequitor. It had nothing to do with anything else she’d talked about. It was good, but this could have been a 5-day or 7-day course.
