The End Of Seeking – Discovering The Key To Happiness

With Suryacitta (The Happy Buddha)

The aim of the six-session course is: 1. The Peace Before A Thought Because of our addiction to thinking, we miss the inherent spaciousness before a thought 2. Disidentifying from the “voice in the head” Begin to experience a gap between awareness and thinking, loosening the sense of being the thinker. 3. The priceless gift of stillness and silence Discover that silence is not something to create, but something already present beneath mental activity. 4. There is no path to presence There is no path to presence because presence is not somewhere else—it is what is here before the search begins. The journey ends when it is seen that what we have been seeking is the one thing that has never been absent. 5. If You Want To Meditate Remember This One Thing Meditation begins where seeking ends. As long as there is something to attain, the mind remains in motion. When the search for a better moment comes to an end, what is already here reveals itself in its natural stillness. 6. The End Of The Search The end of the search is not finding what you have been looking for; it is seeing that nothing was ever missing—only the belief that something was. With this seeing comes a natural return home, a resting in the quiet peace of what is already whole and complete. What Students Can Expect Simple, direct guidance Clear pointing rather than complex theory—inviting you to look at your immediate experience. Short, guided meditations and pointers Opportunities to sit, notice, and explore—without pressure to “do it right.” A gentle but honest approach Misconceptions about meditation and the mind may be challenged in a supportive way. A shift in perspective rather than new beliefs This course is about seeing, not adopting new ideas, beliefs or philosophies. Space for reflection and inquiry Time to notice what’s true in your own experience, rather than relying on concepts. An emphasis on effortlessness Again and again, you’ll be invited to notice what is already here, rather than striving for a future state.

Meet your Teacher

Suryacitta has been practicing Buddhism for over 30 years and is the author of five books. In recent years, however, he has moved away from the institutions and complexities often associated with the tradition. He now points to self-realisation as something available to anyone willing to look directly at their own experience. What we are seeking is already here—it isn’t a concept or an idea, but what you are. Simple, direct, no messing. Please keep in mind that Suryacitta doesn't use notes or a script. He prefers it that way. It enables him to be open to new ways of expressing something, which makes it more alive and spontaneous. On the other hand, there may be a few more umms and ahhs.

Lesson 1

Drunk On Thought - Waking Up From The Trance Of Thinking

Most of us spend our lives intoxicated by thought, believing every story the mind tells. Lost in a trance of thinking, we overlook the simple aliveness of this moment. This teaching explores what happens when thoughts are no longer taken as truth. And in that awakening, a natural peace begins to reveal itself. There will be pointers (exercises) and pauses for us to investigate along with some meditation guidance.

Lesson 2

Disidentifying With The Voice in Your Head

The voice in your head is constant, familiar, and persuasive, but is it really who you are? Most of us have spent a lifetime identifying with a stream of thoughts, believing every story it tells. Yet the simple fact that you can hear the voice means there is something here prior to it. Freedom begins when we stop taking every thought personally and start noticing the awareness that hears them. In this talk, we explore what it means to disidentify from the voice in your head and discover the peace that exists before thought. There will be a talk and some practical exercises.

Lesson 3

The Priceless Gift Of Silence And Stillness

Stillness and silence are not things we create; they are what remain when we stop chasing the next thought. Beneath the noise of the mind is a quiet presence that has been here all along. In stillness, life is no longer filtered through stories, judgments, and memories. Silence reveals the simple wonder of hearing, seeing, and being exactly where we are. This priceless gift is available in every moment, waiting to be noticed rather than attained. There is a short talk, practical exercises and a short guided meditation

Lesson 4

There Is No Path To Presence

There is no path to presence because presence is not a destination waiting at the end of a journey. The mind imagines that peace lies somewhere in the future, but presence is only ever found here and now. Every step taken to reach it overlooks the simple fact that it is already here. What we seek is not something to attain, but something to recognise. There is a short talk some pointers and a short guided meditation.

Lesson 5

If You Want To Meditate, Remember This One Thing

If You Want to Meditate, Remember This One Thing If you sit to meditate hoping to become something, the mind has already left the present moment. Meditation is not about attaining peace, awakening, or a special state. It is the simple willingness to be with what is here, exactly as it is. When the urge to get somewhere falls away, stillness reveals itself naturally. There is a talk, some pointers, and a short guided meditation

Lesson 6

The End Of The Search

You have been searching for something that was never lost. The seeker and the sought have always been the same. There is nowhere left to go, and nothing left to become. What you are is not something you can find — it is what you are. The search doesn't end in arrival. It ends in realisation.
