Holistics

Welcome! Today, our focus is to introduce you to a holistic approach to psychology and therapy, which aims to promote overall well-being comprehensively. The theory we will explore in this section emphasizes that true health and well-being cannot be achieved by solely treating symptoms. Instead, Holistic Psychology advocates for a more holistic perspective, taking into account not only the individual's physical and emotional dimensions but also their social and spiritual aspects. By addressing the root causes of distress and considering all these dimensions, we can foster greater well-being and a more complete sense of harmony in one's life.

The theory we will explore in this section suggests that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interrelated and impact our overall well-being. Lesson 6

Adjusting Your Beliefs

Welcome back! Recap of the previous session: We focused on the Mind-Body Connection Part 2, exploring ways to reconnect with our bodily needs and inner intuition. Today, our objective is to understand how our core beliefs shape our identity, influence our perception of ourselves and the world, and impact our mental health and relationships. We will explore methods for identifying, questioning, and ultimately revising these deeply ingrained beliefs to foster personal growth and healing. The theory we will discuss in this section suggests that our core beliefs are established in early life through our experiences and interactions. These beliefs, whether positive or negative, act as filters through which we interpret the world around us. Our reticular activating system (RAS) prioritizes information that aligns with these beliefs. However, recognizing that these beliefs are not an inherent part of our identity gives us the power to challenge and change them, leading to personal transformation and growth.

Lesson 7

Heal Your Inner Child

Welcome back! Recap of the previous session: We discussed the significance of identifying and revising our core beliefs to promote personal growth and well-being. Today, our objective is to explore our attachment styles and discover how nurturing our inner child can help us heal from past hurts and cultivate healthier relationships. The theory we will delve into in this section is rooted in attachment theory, which suggests that the emotional bonds we formed with our caregivers during early childhood have a lasting impact on our behavior and relationships. Our attachment style shapes our beliefs about love, trust, and self-worth, deeply influencing our inner child—the emotional self that holds onto childhood experiences, emotions, and needs. By understanding our attachment style and nurturing our inner child, we can heal from past wounds and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships in our lives.

Lesson 8

Reparenting

Welcome back! Recap of the previous session: We explored the significance of healing your inner child and understanding the impact of early childhood attachments on emotional development and relationships in adulthood. Today, our objective is to delve into the concept of reparenting ourselves, specifically addressing the effects of having emotionally immature parents. We will explore the characteristics of emotionally immature parents, and their impact on children, and introduce the four pillars of reparenting as a strategy for healing and developing a strong sense of self. The theory we will focus on in this section revolves around the dynamic between emotionally immature parents and their children, and how it influences the child's emotional regulation, self-esteem, attachment styles, and ability to set boundaries. Reparenting is a transformative process that involves taking responsibility for our well-being. It entails addressing unmet needs from childhood through practices such as emotional regulation, loving discipline, self-care, and rediscovering the joy and wonder of the child within us. Through the four pillars of reparenting, we can heal emotional wounds, develop resilience, and nurture a healthier sense of self.

Lesson 9

Checking Your Ego

Welcome back! Recap of the previous session: We discussed the concept of reparenting and explored the impact of having emotionally immature parents. Today, our objective is to delve into understanding the ego—our sense of self-identity and self-importance—and its influence on our behaviors and perceptions. The theory we will explore in this section focuses on the ego as the narrator of our life story. It shapes our identity by interpreting our experiences, beliefs, and societal interactions. While the ego plays a crucial role in protecting our inner child and maintaining a sense of safety, it can also hinder personal growth by keeping us stuck in defensive patterns of thinking and reacting. By understanding the role of the ego and its potential limitations, we gain the opportunity to navigate life with more self-awareness and make choices that foster personal development and fulfillment.
