Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Make yourself very comfortable.
Lay down and close your eyes.
Allow your thoughts to pass you by like water slowly flowing down a calm river.
Take another slow,
Deep breath in and out.
Now imagine you are standing in a beautiful forest in the fall.
All of the surrounding leaves have turned vibrant colors of red,
Orange,
And yellow.
In your mind,
Notice how the leaves gently detach from the tips of their tree branches and begin to fall.
Notice as they sway in an unpredictable flight path to the surface of a calming,
Flowing river nearby.
Focus on how the leaves are swept away by the tranquility of the river.
Think of these falling leaves as your many random thoughts and think of the river as the constant passage of time.
In this moment,
Imagine this river is carrying your brightly colored thoughts away calmly and slowly and without you feeling the need to retrieve or chase after them.
Take another slow and deep breath in and out.
Now imagine the flow of the river and the falling leaves are slowing down simultaneously.
In your mind's eye,
Imagine magnifying one of the leaves as it falls in slow motion just before it touches the river.
Notice that in this state of unhurried time,
You can see more visual detail of the leaf than you could before.
See the unique vein patterns in the leaf.
See the surrounding wave patterns of the water as the leaf gently yields to the river.
Take another deep breath in and as you exhale,
Imagine all surrounding motion has stopped.
Imagine that while the picture in your mind is still,
You zoom out to see in all directions and you can move about as freely and as naturally as you choose.
Take another slow,
Deep breath.
Now imagine stepping into the river to gather three leaves and lay them out in a line beside the river.
Now imagine organizing the leaves from large to small.
Now organize the leaves from lightest to darkest.
Take another slow,
Deep breath in and out and allow the river and falling leaves to resume their normal speed.
Realize that in life,
Like the leaves that you set beside the river,
You can organize your thoughts easily by slowing the pace of your thoughts and separating them into small and easy to manage sequences.
Remember,
We sometimes put our priorities off because we would rather avoid the pain of doing them early.
Take a deep breath in and out and if you like,
Please repeat after me and allow your mind to ponder the answer on your own time.
What could happen if I put off putting things off?
What could happen if I postponed postponement?
When would now be a good time to take massive action?
Take another deep breath and imagine the top of your head as a microphone.
Now speak these words directly into the microphone as they are recorded into your mind.
Regressination is painful because it causes me stress.
Accomplishing small priorities early is pleasurable because I can take my time.
Take another slow deep breath.
Realize that in this relaxed state,
You can break down your priorities down into smaller pieces quicker and easier than before.
Take all the time you need to just breathe and remember you can return to this meditation whenever you please.
Also remember that the more you practice this meditation,
The faster and easier it will work for you.
Thank you for taking the time to begin learning how to procrastinate procrastination.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and let me leave you with these words.
It's a great day to be alive.
