Find a comfortable,
Low-lit place to sit or lay down and slowly close your eyes.
Be still and take in a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth and begin to relax your entire body.
With each slow breath in,
Imagine you're becoming more relaxed and with each exhalation,
Imagine your head and your chest are getting heavier.
Just for now,
Try to separate and observe your present responsibilities and your worries like a camera would take a video.
Just keep breathing in and out as deeply and as slowly as you can.
Now imagine you're outside on a beautiful,
Warm summer day and all of your responsibilities and all of your worries are trapped inside dozens of brightly colored floating balloons.
Each of the balloons are connected to strings that you hold in your hand.
In your mind,
Pick one balloon from the bunch and look inside of it.
Maybe an image or a word that represents a present responsibility or future worry in your life.
Maybe it's something bothering you from work or involves a loved one.
Now in your mind,
Let that single balloon go.
Notice as it rises silently upward into the sky.
The balloon containing your pain is getting smaller and further away until it disappears from view.
Now let a few more balloons go.
Now a few more.
Watch them as they shrink and peacefully ascend into nothingness.
Take another deliberate,
Slow,
Deep breath in and as you exhale,
Let all of the balloons go.
Let your head and chest feel even heavier as you smile.
In this moment,
Allow yourself the freedom to realize you don't owe anyone anything.
You are your own best friend to life's uncertainties.
You are your own protector against regret.
You are your own healer of guilt.
And as you slowly breathe in and out,
I want you to say out loud or think these words.
I always trust and respect myself.
I am evolving at my own pace.
My mistakes do not define me.
I must take time to care for myself every day.
No matter what,
Everything is going to be okay.
Now with each breath in and out,
Imagine your head and chest are getting lighter.
Take all the time you need and remember,
You can return to this meditation or any other whenever you please.
Thank you for showing yourself the compassion that you deserve.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and let me leave you with these words.
It's a great day to be alive.
