Hello,
Good morning.
This is a quick morning meditation to help you set the tone for your day,
Beginning the day from a place of connection.
It comes from a practice in Tarthang Tulku's book,
The Gesture of Great Love.
This meditation can be done laying in bed when you first woke up,
Or you can find yourself a comfortable seated position,
Closing the eyes if it's comfortable for you to close the eyes.
Begin by taking three deep breaths.
Become aware of your inhale and your exhale.
Let yourself enjoy the way your whole body engages the breath.
Enjoy the way that breathing connects you to the world around you.
Take a few moments to reflect on your good fortune.
Even in the midst of obstacles or pain,
You can remind yourself how remarkable it is to be alive,
To be here in this body,
On this earth,
Remembering the trees blowing in the wind,
The rivers flowing to the ocean,
The sun on your face,
The feeling of being alive.
You have the fortune of making contact with teachings that can totally transform your life,
And you can choose from this moment forward to live differently.
Let this inspire you.
Now set your intention for the day towards love,
Connection,
Aliveness,
Repeating silently in your mind or out loud,
Today and every day,
I will honor myself.
I will nurture my body,
Mind,
And spirit.
I will cultivate joy.
I will awaken my senses to the riches that are available to me,
And I will share this aliveness with those I meet.
Letting these intentions be like an inner shower that cleanses and refreshes you,
Opening you up,
Encouraging and increasing your capacity for appreciation.
Take one more deep breath,
Filling your heart,
Your lungs,
Your belly,
Your pelvis,
And exhale,
Releasing that breath out to the world and bringing a smile onto the face.
Whenever you're ready,
Slowly blinking the eyes open,
Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes,
Spreading that joy,
That aliveness out to your limbs.
Be ready to share it with the rest of your day.
May the benefits of this practice be for the benefit of all beings.
Thank you for being here.
Adios.
