Can you notice some of your favourite things?
Maybe you can see some of the toys you love to play with during the day.
Maybe you can see your teddies that you have had since you were really little.
Can you give these toys and teddies a nice big smile?
Aren't you lucky to have so many nice things in your room to help you feel all safe and warm before you drift off to sleep?
Maybe you are even lucky enough to have a special person in your room with you now.
Your mum or dad,
A grandparent,
Your brother,
Sister or even your pet.
And just giving them a nice big smile too before you close down your eyes.
Wonderful.
And closing down your eyes now and taking a few nice deep breaths in and out.
Does the air feel warm or cool?
Do you make any noise when you breathe?
Do any parts of your body move when you breathe?
Maybe you notice your tummy moving up and down or your chest rising and falling.
When we pay attention to our breath,
Our bodies naturally relax and get all sleepy.
So concentrating on our breathing before bed is a great way to help us drift off to sleep.
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Chest moving up and down,
Belly moving up and down.
Are you feeling a bit more relaxed now?
I hope so.
But before we go off to sleep,
Can you think about something that you did today that was really fun?
Can you picture this moment in your mind now?
What were you doing that was fun?
Who was there with you?
Can you take a nice deep breath in and out and just feel happy that you had some fun today?
And now we are going to help our whole bodies feel happy before we drift off to sleep.
Did you know that it's possible to make your whole body smile,
Even your fingers and toes?
Would you like to give it a try with me now?
Starting with your face,
Can you let your lips turn slightly upwards into a gentle smile?
Can you imagine your cheeks and your eyes smiling too?

Taking a nice deep breath in and out and thinking about your chest,

Taking a deep breath into your tummy and as you breathe out,
Imagining your tummy smiling too.
Imagining this smile moving all the way down your legs to your feet and your ten toes.
Can you give all your ten toes a wiggle,
Almost as if they were wiggling into the shape of a smile?
Now imagining this smile traveling all the way down your arms to your hands and your ten fingers,
Giving your fingers a little wiggle now and imagining that they are wiggling into the shape of a smile.
This smile is now sinking further into your body.
I think your bones are smiling,
Even your blood is smiling.
You are feeling all warm,
Happy and relaxed.
Can you feel that your whole body is smiling and is full of happiness?
It feels pretty good,
