Fear holds us back from so much in life. And it is something we will always feel, because our brains are built to keep us safe, so are super vigilant and often overly protective. But we don't need to be run by that fear. And it doesn't need to be the only thing we feel. By recognising that it is something we feel and being compassionate towards ourselves, we are more able to quieten it. This 3 minute track will help you calm the fear a little and see it as a feeling you are experiencing, rather than a decision-maker. This track is part of my For When... series of very short tracks - small doses of support and rememberance for you, when you need it.

Begin by noticing where you're feeling that fear.

Just breathe and notice.

Then take a loving hand and place it where that fear is sitting in you.

Again breathe and then from that place plant your feet.

Ground yourself by rooting with your feet and if you're sitting down root with your hips as well.

By planting yourself physically,

You show your system that you are upholding you.

And as you breathe in from that place of rootedness,

Rolling your shoulders so that you open up your heart,

Opening up your heart space.

There becomes space for your fear to exist and for courage to rise.

Because as they say,

Courage is fear walking.

So use your body to root into a sense of assuredness as much as you are able.

And with this loving hand to show compassion towards the fearfulness within.

And just like taking a young child by the hand when they are cautious or fearful and staying with them showing that it's okay.

We can do the same with ourselves.

So again taking a breath in,

Opening up your heart space.

And by breathing in and opening up that space within,

You allow more space for trust in yourself.

And on the next breath in,

Perhaps lift your chin a little.

And breathing out with gentleness.

You've got this.

All you need to do is take the next step.

And then breathe and take the next one.

Thank you.
