Inspired by words my Grandpa said to me, and from current experiences of finding my own way to recognise my responses to global challenges and devastation, stay in compassion - inwardly and outwardly - and keep on contributing in the ways I can to and for this world, this track is speaking to those challenges so many of us are experiencing in witness and closer to home, and wanting to keep on working for a better world, because it so often feels isolating and disempowering. The track begins as more of a talk and moves towards an offering for reflection and connecting in with yourself. Keep on doing what you're doing.

That was the last thing my grandpa said to me before he died.

I was doing different work then and I was in a transition and so I took this not so much about the specifics of my work but instead about my deeper drive to contribute to this world.

I'm trusting that by keeping that going my work in any stage of its evolution would make a difference.

My grandpa had been a conscientious objector in the Second World War working for the Friends Ambulance Unit who treated injured soldiers on the front line whatever side they were on and years later he left a job because the company's practices were not in alignment with his ethics and principles.

He had an incredibly significant influence on me regarding social responsibility,

Awareness of choices I have and consciously choosing work that contributes.

However,

Sometimes it is hard to keep going in the face of so much devastation and some of those in power making decisions in the world that will make things worse.

It is easy to get derailed in the face of the power of perpetrators and so much heartbreak even when there's incredible things happening in the world when people are creating wonderful community national and global movements.

Individually we can work on regular practice to come back to hope to our agency and to our reasons for doing what we do in and for this world.

It's crucial to have these practices if we want to keep going.

It's normal to have glitches in our faith tenacity and hopefulness and empowerment in the work we do and how we show up in this world.

But when we have these glitches it's how we respond to them that counts.

So this is for those moments when you get derailed,

For when it feels so much harder or for when you're wondering what's the point?

Because there is a point.

Sometimes getting derailed or disconnected from our hope and motivation is simply our systems needing to decompress and replenish.

Is this true for you in this moment?

In which case what rest and nourishment do you need?

Or perhaps it is about regrouping with yourself and reconnecting with your worth,

Your wisdom and why you do what you do whilst turning down the volume on that part of your brain that is fearful or less helpful.

By checking in with this we access more awareness and so are more enabled to respond to ourselves and choose a way forward that is more in alignment with how we want to be.

So I invite you to take a nourishing breath in and as you breathe out place your hand on your heart and connect in with your source of love and hope,

Your place of wisdom and knowing.

This is your place of knowing the worth of yourself and the worth of what you contribute.

So breathe into it and fan the flames.

Give it space to expand so that it has permission to be your overriding way of being.

And as you fan these flames connect with the parts of your body that are anchoring you right now and imagine you have roots going down into the earth holding you steady so that you may rise up,

Bring things to fruition,

Rest when you need to and sustain along the way.

Life and all of creation are incredible,

Awesome,

Wondrous,

Inspirational,

Tenacious and so much more which means that you are all of those things too and as part of this incredible web you matter.

The web of life needs your contribution whatever form that takes as each of us keep living from a place of love,

Connection and doing what we can for a better world.

We build our agency,

We are less alone and each of our individual contributions flow into the collective and become massive,

Powerful oceans of hope.

So along the way keep on checking in with yourself and respond in ways that support you and keep on doing what you're doing,

Adding those little droplets into the ocean.

The world needs you and you are not alone.
