Yoga Nidra for Deep Rest and Restoration Lie down and allow the body to settle.
Feel the full weight of you being received.
As though the earth itself is saying,
You can put everything down now.
This is a space for deep restoration.
Bring in a quiet intention.
Something simple and true.
Something like I allow myself to deeply rest.
My body knows how to restore.
Let your own intention arise now and let it land gently.
Now we begin a slow journey through the body.
Awareness moves like a soft light.
Touching,
Sensing,
Then moving on.
Bring your awareness to the right hand,
Right thumb,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Third finger,
Little finger,
Arm of the hand,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Arm,
Elbow,
Shoulder,
Right side of the body,
Knee,
Lower leg,
Right foot,
Heel,
Top of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third,
Little toe.
Now left side,
Left thumb,
Second finger,
Little finger,
Palm of the left hand,
Right hand,
Back of the left hand,
Wrist,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Left waist,
Right foot,
Lower leg,
Left foot,
Heel,
Big toe,
Second,
Third toe on the left foot,
Little toe.
Bring awareness to the back body,
Back of the head,
Shoulder blades,
Spine,
Gently resting,
Lower back,
And now the front body,
Space between the brows,
Cheeks,
Lips,
Jaw unclenched,
Chest,
Heart space,
Soft and rising.
Whole body now,
Resting,
Breathing.
Let awareness of this body feel like warmth now,
Soaking into each part,
Not just noticing,
But nourishing,
Bringing awareness to the breath in the belly.
Now imagine that with each inhale you are drawing in nourishment.
With every exhale the body integrates and softens,
Breathing in,
Drawing in nourishment,
And exhaling the body integrates and softens.
The breath becomes like a rhythm of renewal,
Effortless.
Imagine now you are beside a quiet flowing stream,
Clear water,
Moving gently over stone.
This is a place of healing.
You step into the water or perhaps simply rest beside it and sense its presence.
In Celtic wisdom,
Water was seen as deeply restorative,
A place where the body and soul could be renewed.
Imagine this water carrying away fatigue,
Weak,
Gently,
Without force.
Anything that is heavy is invited now to soften and dissolve.
At the same time,
Something is being returned to you,
A quiet vitality,
A steady strength,
A deep replenishment.
Let this move through you now,
Slowly.
Let go of all imagery now.
Drop into stillness,
Body resting,
Mind quiet,
Awareness open.
This is deep rest.
Return gently to the breath.
Bring back your intention.
Notice how the body feels now,
Even in subtle ways.
Begin to deepen the breath.
Invite small movements to fingers or toes.
And when you are ready,
Slowly coming back to an awareness of the place you are in.
Gently and with care,
Beginning to allow a little more movement into the body as you prepare to return to the rest of your day,
Carrying this sense of restoration with you.
