Welcome to this deep sleep meditation to help you to relax your body so that you can transition into rest,

Restore,

Relax.

Your body deserves this time to rest and restore.

Your body has been working hard for you today and every day.

She moved you to where you wanted to go.

She digested the food you ate,

Kept your heart beating and your lungs breathing.

Perhaps your body wrapped her arms around the people you love and care for today or allowed you to jump,

To move,

To exercise,

To sweat in your body so you can feel healthy and strong.

Or maybe your body today let you sit still so you could do the work that is important to you,

Help you connect with meaning and purpose.

Perhaps today your body shed tears to help you to release powerful emotions or spoke the words you needed to communicate with others your felt needs and desires.

Your body is amazing.

Working hard all day every day so that you can be you.

And now she needs to rest so she can restore and replenish and support you to be you tomorrow.

So let's begin.

Inviting you now to gently close your eyes and give yourself a little time to adjust the body so that you're in your most comfortable resting position.

Best you can.

Try not to skip over this important first step.

Letting the body find some ease.

Take a deep breath in and breathe all the way out.

Now let your body sink further into your position.

Working out any kinks and adjusting yourself as necessary as you find your cozy nest for this practice.

And then come to your breath.

Be here gentle tuning in and awareness of the breath for a little bit now.

Feeling your chest and stomach rise with each in-breath and fall back again with each out-breath.

Rise as you breathe in.

Fall as you breathe out.

Breathing in filling the belly and chest with maximum air.

And then on each lovely long out-breath releasing letting go even a little.

The rise as you breathe in.

Falling back as you breathe out.

Breathing in nourishment and ease.

Breathing out releasing letting go even a little.

Bring your attention now to the top of your head.

Feel it warm and soften.

As you breathe out breathe out any tightness or holding that may be right now in the top of your head.

Maybe around the temples or the forehead.

And feel your head lighten.

Shifting your attention now to your face.

Feeling the eyelids get heavier and your cheeks soften.

Unclench your jaw naturally separating your lower jaw from the top of your mouth.

Taking a little movement to the lower jaw now.

Moving it gently from side to side and then letting it come to rest in its most comfortable position.

And take a deep breath in.

And as you exhale release all the tension that you held in your forehead,

Your temples,

Your eyes,

Your jaw,

Your cheeks,

Your mouth.

And your chin.

Feel your face warm and soften.

Now bring some loving awareness to your neck and your shoulders.

Drop the shoulders even a little down from the ears.

And notice the after effect of that little movement.

As you breathe in now imagine your neck stretching.

Releasing any pressure on your spine.

And then as you breathe out releasing,

Letting go,

Exhaling any tension.

Let's do that again.

As you breathe in imagine your neck stretching.

Releasing any pressure on your spine.

And when you breathe out exhaling any tightness,

Any holding.

Feeling yourself melt into your bed or the surface supporting you just a little deeper.

Now feel your arms as they lay on the bed.

Noticing arms in contact with support.

As your attention focuses on your arms feel them soften.

Let go,

Even a little.

With each in-breath imagine your arms getting warmer now.

And with each out-breath feel them heavier beside you.

Breathing in getting warmer.

Breathing out getting heavier.

Feel your fingers and hands soften.

And let your arms,

Hands and fingers relax deeper into your bed.

Now bring your attention to your chest area,

To your heart space.

Noticing the physical organ of the heart.

Perhaps for you an awareness of warmth around the heart.

Or you might even notice the heartbeat itself.

But bringing loving awareness to the heart in the chest area.

Imagine now a golden light emanating from your heart.

Warming your whole body from its centre.

Feel this golden light spread now throughout your body and soak in gratitude for its love.

Its amazing life-giving energy in every moment of every day of your life.

A warm golden light,

Energy,

Warmth,

Life itself from the heart.

Deepening awareness,

Growing gratitude for this gentle ever-present life force.

Sinking now and relaxing the body a little more into the bed.

Now noticing the belly.

Letting the breath itself create some ease and space and softness in the whole belly area.

Breathing in ease and space and softness.

And on each out-breath from the belly,

Releasing,

Letting go even a little.

Relaxing the whole belly area,

Deeper into rest and restore.

Now feel the warmth of your back as you bring your attention here,

Just to this part of the body,

The whole of the back.

Imagining a warm glow softening each and every muscle of the whole back area.

Allowing every muscle to relax deeper into your comfortable resting position.

Every muscle softening,

Relaxing,

Letting go.

Feel that warm energy travel down the legs,

Into your hips,

Your thighs,

Your knees,

Your ankles,

Your feet and your toes.

Feel now the heaviness of your legs on your bed.

Imagining the legs melting,

Sinking,

Softening,

Deeper and deeper into rest and restore.

Your body is amazing.

And she has blessed you today.

Working hard,

Helping you to be you.

Even through pain,

Discomfort,

Challenges.

Your body is with you,

One with you.

And ready now to surrender to the rest and restore and sleep.

As you breathe in,

Intentionally filling your body now with a sense of gratitude.

And on the out-breath,

Inviting the body to let go,

To rest and restore.

Breathing in,

Gratitude.

Breathing out,

Invitation to rest and restore.

In,

Gratitude.

Out,

Rest and restore.

In,

Gratitude.

Out,

Invitation to rest and restore.

Peace to you.

Peace,

Peace,

Peace.

This was a sweet reset after I’ve been traveling for a week, walking miles each day - gratitude for all my body does for me. Thank you, Dee.

I awoke too early this morning. Unfortunately I was unable to get back to sleep but this calming meditation helped me relax. I would have preferred no background music. I appreciated the pacing and thoroughness of the body scan. Thank you for offering this.
