As the sun sets and the world quietens,
We'll take a little time to connect with the calming and restorative energies of the night.
This is a time to reflect,
Release and find peace within the embrace of the night.
Find a comfortable position where your body might have some ease and rest and freedom,
Either sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes and take a deep,
Calming breath in.
Then slowly exhale,
Letting go of the day's activities.
Feel your body relaxing,
Your mind becoming still.
Taking in another deep breath all the way up to the shoulders and a long,
Slow release.
Allowing yourself to fully arrive in this moment.
Begin by envisioning yourself standing now in a peaceful,
Moonlit forest,
An ancient woodland.
The earth beneath your feet is cool and solid,
Grounding you in the present moment.
In Celtic tradition,
The earth represents stability,
Nurturing and the foundation of life.
As you breathe in now,
Imagine drawing up the earth's calming energy,
Feeling it rise through your body.
Bringing your whole body a sense of stability and grounding.
With every exhale,
Release any stress or worry,
Imagining it flowing down through your body and into the earth to be transformed.
Silently affirm,
I am grounded.
I am supported by the earth's strength.
I am grounded.

Next,
Turn your focus to the evening air around you.
Picture a gentle breeze moving through the trees,
Carrying with it the fresh scent of nightfall.
This air is crisp and clear,
Filled with the tranquility of the night.
With each inhale,
Breathe in the refreshing,
Calming energy of the night air,
Allowing it to clear your mind and bring you clarity.
As you exhale,
Letting go of any lingering thoughts or distractions,
Allowing them to dissipate into the night air.
Silently affirm,
Silently affirm,
I am clear.
I am at peace with the night.
I am clear.
I am at peace with the night.
Now focus on the element of fire,
The inner light that continues to glow within you as the world around you darkens.
This fire is your inner strength,
Your passion and your guiding light.
As you breathe in,
Feel the warmth of this inner fire spreading through your body,
Filling you with a sense of comfort and inner strength.
With each exhale,
Release any fatigue or stress from the day,
Allowing it to be transformed into peaceful energy by the fire.
Silently affirm,
I am warm.
I am strong in the light of my inner fire.
I am warm.

Finally,
Connect with the element of water.
Imagine a tranquil stream flowing nearby,
Its waters reflecting the soft light of the moon.
The water is cool,
Soothing and very calming.
As you inhale,
Draw in the calming energy of the water,
Feeling it wash over you,
Soothing your emotions and bringing a sense of deep peace.
With each exhale,
Let go of any emotional burdens or tension,
Allowing them to be carried away by the gentle flow of the water.
Silently affirm,
I am calm.
I am in harmony with the flow of life.
I am calm.

As this meditation draws to a close,
Inviting you now to really feel the balance of the four elements within you,
Earth grounding you,
Air clearing your mind,
Fire warming your spirit,
And water soothing your emotions.
You are at peace,
Embraced by the gentle energy of the night.
