Welcome to this evening meditation inspired by the ancient Celtic tradition.

As the day begins to fade and the night approaches,

Let us embrace the peaceful energy of the evening.

In the Celtic tradition,

The natural world is deeply intertwined with the divine and the setting sun is a sacred time to connect with the earth,

The heavens and the spirit within.

Find a comfortable place now to sit or lie down.

Close your eyes gently and take a deep breath in through your nose allowing your belly to expand.

Hold for a moment and then exhale slowly through your mouth releasing any tension you may be holding.

Repeat this breathing pattern a few times now,

Letting each breath guide you deeper and deeper into a state of relaxation.

Deep breath in through the nose allowing the belly to expand,

Holding for a moment.

Lovely,

Long,

Slow release through your mouth.

In Celtic spirituality,

The four directions East,

South,

West and North are sacred,

Representing different aspects of life and the divine.

Take a moment to imagine yourself now,

Standing in the centre of a sacred circle,

Surrounded by the four directions.

East,

The place of the rising sun,

Symbolising new beginnings and inspiration.

Feel the fresh,

Renewing energy from the East,

Bringing clarity to your mind.

South,

The place of the noonday sun,

Representing passion,

Growth and strength.

Feel the warmth and vitality of the South,

Filling your heart with courage and love.

West,

The place of the setting sun,

Symbolising rest,

Introspection and the end of the day.

Feel the gentle,

Calming energy from the West,

Inviting you to release and let go.

North,

The place of the stars and the night sky,

Representing wisdom,

Mystery and the ancestors.

Feel the grounding energy from the North,

Connecting you to the Earth and your roots.

Take a moment now to reflect on your day.

Without judgement,

Simply observe the events,

The emotions,

The people and the moments that made up your day.

Offer gratitude for the experiences you had,

Whether they are joyful,

Challenging or mundane.

In the Celtic tradition,

Each day is a gift and even the smallest moments are seen as sacred.

Allow yourself to feel a deep sense of gratitude for this day of life.

As the day turns to night,

It's time to release anything that no longer serves you.

Visualise any worries,

Stresses or burdens you carry being lifted from your shoulders now.

See them dissolving into the evening sky,

Carried away by the gentle winds.

As you release your burdens,

Feel a sense of lightness and peace.

Trust that the night will bring rest,

Renewal and guidance from the Divine.

May the peaceful energy of the evening bring you rest.

May the light of the stars guide your dreams.

May the love of the Divine enfold you and may you awaken with the dawn refreshed and renewed.

Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the present moment.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Gently roll your shoulders and take a deep breath in.

When you feel ready,

Open your eyes.

Carry this sense of peace and connection with you now as you move into the rest of your evening.
