Having been only briefly introduced to stoic principles in other meditations, I really appreciated all you share here. It turns out that my mantra of many years, and what I’ve reinforced to my son as he has grown: control what you can control (your own thoughts, feelings, actions) and let go of what you can’t, is stoicism! I have just started down this path of exploring stoicism. I was raised as a Southern Baptist and after college it no longer fulfilled me and so I have been on a search, delving into many various philosophies along the way. I am now 77 and have to say how this course brought everything together for me. Now my upbringing and all the paths I have explored have woven together. This course is like the frosting on the cake. And I will end by saying, it is never too late. Thank you for such an informative and inspiring way to convey what we all need to hear and adhere to.

I keep repeating all of Doug’s courses. I attend his Live events whenever I can… I so appreciate his teaching method, his material, and I consider learning about stoicism a valuable and ongoing exercise and how to live a better life. Loving my life and my work, and the people that I encounter, being kind, regardless of whether they are annoying… understanding what I can and cannot control… And developing wisdom. All these things are worthy choices. I want them to be embedded in my character. I highly recommend all of his courses… And suggest that you simply begin and keep going. It certainly has assisted me to remember what’s important and incorporate behaviors articulated so beautifully by these wise, ancient voices.
