I’m Darcel Hawkins, a yoga + mindfulness teacher, Ayurvedic health coach + writer. For more than a decade I’ve guided people through practices of presence, rest + self-discovery in studios, retreats + community gatherings. My work blends ancient wisdom with everyday life, offered in a simple + heartfelt way.

Lesson 1

Stillness

Sometimes the most powerful practice is simply to pause. In this first lesson, you’ll be guided into a few minutes of stillness; a moment away from the rush of daily life. Together, we’ll explore how quieting the body + mind, even briefly, can open space for presence, ease + clarity.

Breath

Your breath is a constant companion, a rhythm that quietly supports you every moment of the day. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to use the breath as an anchor to steady the mind, soften tension + gently return to the present. With just a few minutes of mindful breathing, you can begin to create more space, clarity + ease... anywhere, anytime.

Lesson 3

Compassion

Calm is not only about quiet; it’s also about kindness. In this lesson, we’ll explore compassion as a seed of calm. By softening toward ourselves, we ease tension in the body + the heart. This practice helps us meet our own struggles with gentleness + in time, extend the same care to others. With compassion, calm becomes warmer, more human + more sustainable.

Lesson 4

Gratitude

Gratitude shifts our attention from what is missing to what is present. In this lesson, we’ll explore how even the smallest expressions of thankfulness can calm the mind + soften the heart. By pausing to notice everyday blessings: a sip of water, a kind word, the warmth of sunlight, we learn to cultivate a steadier sense of ease. Gratitude doesn’t erase challenges, but it reminds us of the goodness still here, waiting to be seen.

Lesson 5

Connection

Calm deepens when we remember we are not alone. In this final lesson, we’ll explore connection... to ourselves, to others + to the wider world around us. By pausing to sense the ground beneath our feet, the breath we share with the earth or the presence of those we love, we rediscover belonging. Connection doesn’t remove life’s challenges, but it reminds us that we are held within something larger than ourselves and that knowing can bring steady peace.

I need seeds for presence and calm right now more than ever, so I was drawn to this course which fit the bill. My core values are reflected here (top ones are curiosity, compassion and connection), and I always appreciate layering and deepening those values.
