My name is Jane Murray and I am the CEO of Peacebeam and the author and voice of many of our guided meditations and audio courses. I am also a lawyer, a serial entrepreneur, and was the Managing Director of a $100m Venture Capital Fund for 20 years. I have worked with companies large and small throughout my career as employee, director, founder, and investor and have been coaching, mentoring, and advising leaders for two decades. During that time I have observed that the leaders who emerge as real change makers, those who are deeply connected to their unique brand of power, whether as company founders or team leaders, are the ones who are willing to do the intense work of gathering self-knowledge. We live in a culture that promotes positivity and self-improvement and whilst these are attractive aims, I have found that without the context of one’s own shadow material and agendas, they can be confusing and misleading and, ultimately, disempowering as they tend to lead us away from a full knowledge of self. In my experience, self-knowledge is the ground from which our leadership ability grows. When we know ourselves, warts and all, and we accept all parts of ourselves, we can know and accept others and therefore lead with the compassion, humility, and insight that gives authority to power and therefore, extraordinary possibility from leadership. This course gives you practical means to develop self-knowledge, self-enquiry, and crucially, the ways in which you can use it to develop as a mindful leader. This 10-day course is for anybody in a leadership position, whether leading a team, a group, a company, a project, a movement or a charity. If you want to grow in your role as leader, deepen in your relationship to yourself and therefore to others, explore your relationship to power and authority and learn how to bring mindfulness to every aspect of leadership, this course is for you. You will need a pen and notebook throughout the sessions, which are a combination of lecture, meditation, visualisation, and writing. During the course, I also invite you to engage in a daily examination and reflective practice in your own time.


Meet your Teacher

Peacebeam is a facilitator for kindness. We offer short audios called Peacebeams that are designed for busy people to get you calm, peaceful and connected. We are all about turning your well-being into world-being and your mindfulness into kindfulness. As well as guided meditations for individuals we also produce audio courses for entrepreneurs, companies, and businesses who are ready to deepen their impact through alignment with their individual and collective genius. We create programmes and methodologies for mindful leadership and help people and teams get un-stuck and discover their innate talents. Our CEO Jane, who wrote and voiced this course, is an unusual combination of lawyer, former venture capitalist and self/relational development expert. As well as running Peacebeam and developing KinderPay, our kindness currency, she speaks, consults coaches and advises people and businesses who are looking to change the world. This course is the product of two decades of experience in leadership, both mindful and not so mindful!

Shadows, Archetypes & The Mindful leader

In this session we consider the shadows, archetypes, and what they mean to mindful leaders. We begin to explore how understanding our shadow material and some of the patterns operating unconsciously, when brought to our consciousness , become a tremendous ally and source of creativity for the leader.

Thoughts, Thinking & Mental Clarity

In this session we look at the different types of thoughts, thinking patterns, and imagination that can keep us far from mindfulness and introduce practices that can break unhelpful thinking patterns, relax the mind, connect you to your deeper capacity for thought and disciplined creativity as a leader.

Lesson 4

Entitlement

In this session we explore the uncomfortable word 'entitlement' and engage in a practical exercise to produce a list of demands – those things that are vital for you and those that are not. We look at where power and energy can be drained where we are not engaged with these parts ourselves authentically and honestly.

Tracking Shadow Beliefs & Mindfully Creating Results

In this session we consider that results come from our actions, which come from our beliefs and patterns. As a mindful leader we know that we have because we do, because we are. This session gives practical guidance on how to navigate beliefs and patterns mindfully.

Tracking Flow & Mindfully Creating Results

As in session 5, we will consider that results come from our actions, which come from our beliefs and this time, we will focus on how you are at your best, in flow, fully engaged, fully occupying your potential for leadership.

Lesson 7

Drama Triangles & Leadership

This session focuses on the Karpman Drama Triangle and how that dynamic of interaction and archetypal patterning can be successfully navigated by the mindful leader.

Lesson 8

The Value Of Support

What distinguishes the mindful leader from other leaders is their capacity for self-management. Self-management is only possible when we know ourselves, our patterns and shadows, how we cycle through drama, how our power is drained, and how it is boosted. This session considers the important role a trusted friend, advisor, or mentor can play in helping the mindful leader to self-manage.

The Art Of Reflection & Mindful Decision Making

This session offers a method for reflecting mindfully and coming to decisions in your role as leader.

Lesson 10

On Time

In this final session, we wrap up the course by reviewing the topics we have covered and by giving context to your capacity and possibilities as a mindful leader through considering the realities of mathematics and time.
