During and beyond the global COVID crisis, this 10-day course is a perfect window into the world of simple and effective self-care energy healing. Through the purposeful lens of self-care, this dynamic course teaches Reiki meditation, touch, and mindfulness, with a gentle takeaway practice certain to please all age groups. Based on her book, Living the Presence of Now, Judith delights her listeners by weaving nature’s healing elements into her teaching, using imagery, story, and metaphor to simplify her description of energy healing. No attunement is given nor required to take this course.


Meet your Teacher

Judith has been a meditation guide since 2000 as part of her leadership in Self-Care Wellness Retreats and Courses. Coming from an extensive background in public health nursing, Judith enjoys her second career as a wellness facilitator and published author of six books, all available online. Her latest book, Living the Presence of Now through Self-Care Reiki Wellness and Yoga, was released in November 2020. Judith volunteers as a complementary therapist in Hospice Care Ottawa, Canada.

Lesson 1

What Is Reiki?

Judith offers an overview of the meaning of a self-care Reiki lifestyle that can connect us to a feeling of ‘home.’ She introduces a simple Reiki exercise that can be used for private and group meditation and can also be used with the timer component of Insight Timer. Self-care Reiki teaches you to live in a ‘now’ reality by remaining connected with your Source energy - with something more - in the presence of now.

Lesson 2

Manifesting Life Without Worry

Who doesn’t worry about something some of the time? A self-care Reiki practice trains us to live in a ‘presence of now’ reality without fear by learning to stop worrying as a way of being. The Earth Element supports the Reiki precepts as a foundational practice of mindfulness from which to build and grow your Reiki lifestyle. A self-care touch position is described for listeners to use as you work with the first precept. Just for today, do not worry.

Lesson 3

Becoming Authentic: Living A Life Of Truth

A self-care Reiki practice trains you to live in a ‘presence of now’ reality by living your life in truth in all ways and finding comfort in your authentic self, the space of your ‘inner home’. Judith speaks to the realities of living a life that is true to yourself and one that is not. She describes in water elemental terms the body’s reaction to a lifestyle that is not being true to oneself versus the opposite. A self-care Reiki meditation using healing touch ends this session.

Lesson 4

Anger As An Obstacle To Peace

Do you live with an angry person? Or do you find yourself rising to angry reactions easily? In this session, anger is introduced as an obstacle to the peace of living your inner truth. The self-care Reiki precept, “Just for today, do not anger”, transforms to mindfulness coaching to experience a more balanced reaction to life’s challenges and opportunities, using the fire element as an example of emotions that can be out of control or living peacefully within you. A healing, self-care touch position is described for use when affected by anger.

Lesson 5

Show Compassion To Yourself & Others

Judith combines the heart chakra energy with the air element to administer self-care Reiki, using the breath, touch, and healing mindfulness of the need to be compassionate towards oneself to help release harmful energies such as anger which we discussed in the last session. The fourth Reiki precept, “Show compassion to oneself and to others”, is at the center of this session. An open heart allows us to both love ourselves and become compassionate to the needs of others.

Lesson 6

Gratitude As A Way Of Being - Part One

In session six, gratitude surfaces as a key aspect of the Ether Element, the natural space that holds the other elements. Ether is embodied within the existential concept of ‘being held’ (by the Universe) as we make our way through life, further suggesting a ‘relationship’ we have with the Universe. A Self-Care Reiki touch position demonstrates this physical sensation of being held, and the precept, "Show gratitude to every living thing", is introduced.

Gratitude As A Way Of Being - Part Two

A self-care Reiki practice trains us to live in a ‘presence of now’ reality, feeling grateful for all that is, capturing moments that build upon the positive; opening us to greater depths of awareness of something more, of all that is, in the eternal and healing presence of now. Gratitude, as an energy, can transform our lives and the lives of others as we open to its healing potential of awareness of how we are living our daily life.

Lesson 8

Gratitude As A Way Of Being - Part Three

Self-care Reiki deepens as we continue to discuss the healing potential of gratitude and Reiki’s potential to allow us to interact with and experience a relationship with the Universe. As we give thanks, we immediately connect with the healing space within us where all the elements meet, and Reiki energy flows. The more we follow a self-care Reiki practice of gratitude, the more we will live the energy of Reiki within a ‘healing presence of now’ lifestyle.

Lesson 9

Resolving Root Causes Of Obstacles To Create Peace

A self-care Reiki practice trains us to live in a ‘presence of now’ reality, where peace can be found and felt amidst chaos. Where lives can be lived from our inner home of peace, and peace can be shared in all we do and are. Judith speaks of Reiki going to the ‘root cause’ of symptoms through its energy-healing capability. This session ends with a guided self-care Reiki meditation of relaxation and healing.

Why Self-Care Reiki? Energy Healing Benefits Revisited

A self-care Reiki practice trains us to live in the feelings of a ‘presence of now’ reality, where energy centers flow freely with the comforts of love and peace. We meet this energy in meditation also. Self-care Reiki teaches us additional ways to bring it into our lives in a moment-to-moment way of living in the presence of now, allowing us to find that pure sense of authenticity within us. Thus, to know peace is the ultimate goal of Reiki.

Such an excellent course. After a period of illness and an operation I’d been struggling to meditate or do any Reiki. I have found this course very helpful in reminding me of the fundamentals of Reiki and of self care. Often I have found I have fallen asleep afterwards and think I have cried during most sessions, something I definitely struggle to do! This feels like a course that would be good to repeat. I would definitely recommend and have found it has made a practical change to my day to day life as well as my practice. Thank you 🙏
