
Reiki Meditation for Peaceful Sleep

Thank you for joining me in this Reiki meditation to help you go to sleep.
Sleep is one of our most beautiful gifts we have to regenerate our body and mind,
Particularly following a day in which we have been busily engaged in physical activity,
Mental demands and or emotional challenges.
Sleep is the natural medicine that is essential for us all to soothe our minds,
Rest our bodies and calm our emotions.
Sleep is needed for our physical,
Mental and emotional well-being.
Sleep is like a special friend who heals us as we drift into another dimension of our lives.
I expect you have crawled into bed to listen to this and that you are lying comfortably in whatever position is best for you.
I suggest a light cover over you to prevent you from feeling chilly at some point when your body begins to relax.
Take a moment now to listen to the fading of the daytime sounds outside and around you in your home,
And the renewing changes of a settling stillness and quiet that is making itself known to you within your home.
Outside perhaps nature's sounds are just beginning to come to life with the coming of night.
Really breathe in this changing environment wherever you live with awareness and appreciation.
It is your signal that all your responsibilities of this day have ended.
It's your time now to close your eyes and relax as you take a slower and deeper breath.
Take any adjustments you may need to feel completely comfortable.
As we begin this meditation,
I would like you to imagine a child's bedroom that is softly lit with the night light and a bed that is positioned beside a beautiful window,
Visible to the stars of the night sky and the moon that is softly shining in on the bed,
Creating an energy of enchantment.
The child is lying on her back with her hands by her side and her eyes are closed.
Goodnight kisses have already been exchanged and bedtime stories read or prayers set,
Whatever the nightly ritual is for this child.
Can you picture this?
I'm going to help the child to settle by using Reiki so that sleep can come more quickly for her.
Imagine if you would that I am standing beside the child's bed now and I'm about to scan her energy field by gently and slowly drawing my hands with open fingers from over the top of her head,
Slightly above her body,
To beneath her feet.
As I do this,
I am not touching her,
Rather I am slowly moving through her energy field,
About one to two inches above her body.
I'll be doing this three times,
Making sure that I cover all of her energy field and lightly touching her feet at the end of each scan.
You might like to try this yourself now,
Especially around your head,
Shoulders and arms.
Please feel you are gently and slowly sweeping snow or sand from an outer coat on your body.
And stretch down to your feet and give them a gentle sweep also.
With my next and final scan,
I will be using the closed palm of my hands to move through her energy field with a slow and soothing motion,
Much like petting a dog or a cat,
But without touching her body.
So you might try doing this to yourself now also,
If you like.
Scanning has an immediate settling effect,
A calming effect,
Calming the child,
Calming her energy and preparing her for sleep.
Can you imagine this?
And now I'm going to climb up onto the foot of the child's bed and sit down quietly at her feet and place my rakey hands lightly on the tops of her feet at her ankles.
I'm sitting back now in a relaxed posture with my legs crossed as I take a slower and deeper breath myself to help me as I guide her to sleep.
I invite you to take a slower and deeper breath with me also.
The moonlight continues to shine through her window,
Illuminating this imaginary scene with a soothing touch of magic and mystery,
Bringing a sense of stillness,
Peace,
And security to this very special time of the evening.
At this point of our visualization,
I would ask you to imagine that it is your ankles and feet that I am holding now as you take another slower breath.
And relax into the innocence of a child,
Accepting the enchantment of moonlight energy that shines in on your bed,
Accepting its light and stillness in your room,
Accepting its peace in your room,
Remembering a childlike sense of timeless peace,
Comfort,
And security as you simply listen to my voice without any effort on your part.
Your slower and deepening breath is beginning to relax your face,
Your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your nose,
Your mouth,
Your lower jaw as it relaxes and opens.
With your next gentle and quiet breath,
You may feel as though you are beginning to drift a little now as your shoulders give way to your pillow and bed and your arms release their tension,
Feeling somewhat heavy on your bed.
Your hands relax,
Your fingers relax,
And begin to feel like jelly.
Notice the warmth of my reiki hands on your feet and ankles now.
Welcome this warmth as it travels slowly up your lower legs,
Warming and relaxing your legs until they feel like jelly,
Warming and relaxing your thighs.
The reiki energy and warmth continues to flow upwards through your pelvis and into your abdomen,
Warming your tummy and soothing it,
Allowing your body to let go of whatever you have been holding as you receive the healing energy that is flowing gently in your body now and allowing you to feel relaxed and ready for sleep.
Your reiki warmth continues to travel upwards into your chest,
Quieting your breath,
Softening your shoulders even more,
Softening your arms and your neck,
Your mouth and your jaw.
Your entire body now accepting of the relaxation it so much deserves and is so ready to receive.
And as you drift away from your present reality,
Your inner voice gives thanks for this day,
For its many blessings,
Whether or not you were aware of them as they were happening,
And for all of the goodness that awaits you tomorrow.
And now,
With a beautiful smile in a thankful heart and a peaceful soul,
You completely relax just like the child under nature's blanket of darkness,
Gratefully receiving the peaceful energies and light of the moon and the stars into your being.
As you drift into a healing sleep in the stillness and protection of the night,
Sweet dreams and good night.
