Loving Every Part Of Yourself: A Parts Work & Internal Family Systems Approach

With Emma Donovan

Do you try your best to appear confident, but deep down, feel unworthy? Do you struggle to feel at home in your own skin, or confident in who you are? Do you only love some parts of yourself, but struggle to deeply love all of you? If so, then this course is for you. This course will teach you how to become less self-critical and more self-confident and self-loving by befriending all parts of yourself, including your "inner demons" and inner child, who need love the most. And if self-love is hard for you, don’t worry. You will learn how to connect to your innate loving potential, even if it's been hard before. The course material is inspired by Internal Family Systems, Parts Work, shadow work, inner child work, shamanism, ancient wisdom traditions, loving-kindness, and self compassion. It is holistic, combining lecture and experiential meditation practice. As a result of this course, many people experience more self-understanding, self-love, inner harmony, and wholeness. Lesson 1

Understanding the Many Parts of Yourself

Today's lesson will orient you to the course. You will learn about the modern psychological methods, research, and ancient wisdom this course is based on. You'll also learn about the many different "parts" of yourself, and how even your "inner demons" are actually your friends and allies. Lastly, you'll identify parts of yourself and set a personal intention. Many students walk away from this first lesson feeling more loving towards their parts and more hopeful about the transformative potential of self-love in their own lives. A notebook is recommended.

Lesson 2

Connecting to a Compassionate Figure

You will learn about what a compassionate figure means for you in a way that will align with your own worldview, no matter what you believe. Then, you will have an experience with this guide that might feel deep, profound, and even mystical. You will likely feel deeply loved, supported, and held by this experience. Today’s lesson is inspired by self-compassion research and shamanism.

Lesson 3

Connecting to Your Core Self

Today, you will learn about your "core self," the calm, connected, compassionate, and loving center of you, that has the ability to love and harmonize all parts of you. You will also reflect on how your core self shows up for you in your life. Then, you will gain an embodied experience of core self and create an anchor that can help you feel centered and give yourself love whenever you need it. As a result, you may feel more centered, self-loving, and confident moving forward with the rest of the course. Today's lesson is inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory and somatic psychology.

Lesson 4

Connecting to a Part of You That is Easy to Love

Today we will focus on connecting to a part of you that is easy to love. This will introduce you to working with parts in an accessible way. It will also help you recognize and give gratitude for your strengths, and show love towards a part of you that will likely benefit from recognition. As a result, you will gain more self-awareness and self-love for your strengths, and feel more prepared to work with more challenging parts of you later on. Today's lesson is inspired by Internal Family Systems theory, a strengths-based approach, loving-kindness, and shamanism.

Lesson 5

Connecting to a Part You Want to Get to Know Better

Today we are going to connect to a part of you that you would like to get to know better through meditation. This will help you gain more self-awareness and forge a deeper connection with one part of you, which is an important way to practice self-love. You will send love to this part of you, feeling more integrated and self-understanding as a result. At the end of this meditation, most students feel more confident and capable to work with a more challenging part of themselves in the next lesson. Today's lesson was inspired by Internal Family Systems theory, loving-kindness, and shamanism.

Lesson 6

Learning to Love Your Inner Daimons

Today we are going deeper into your "shadow" as we learn to love your inner daimons. You will learn how these parts of you are just the most misunderstood parts of you, who can soften with love. You'll identify an inner daimon you would like to work with in the next lesson. You will gain self-compassion and confidence working with an inner daimon part of you in a way that feels safe to you in tomorrow's lesson. Today's lesson is inspired by shadow work, IFS theory, modern psychology, and ancient wisdom traditions such as Christianity, Tibetan Buddhism, Chod, and Sufi poetry.

Lesson 7

Befriending an Inner Daimon

Today we are befriending an inner demon part of you through a guided experiential meditation. We will do this in a way that feels safe and right for you. As a result, you will become a better friend and ally to this part of you, learning how to work with it for your highest good. Many students remark that this is a deeply moving experience, where they realize that this part of themself is not as scary as they thought, and they feel more liberated, peaceful, and empowered afterward. Today's lesson is inspired by Internal Family Systems theory, Chod, loving-kindness, shadow work, and shamanism.

Lesson 8

Getting to Know Your Inner Child

Today will combine a lecture with a reflective exercise on your inner child. You will learn more about your own inner child, the qualities they have, how they felt, and what they needed. You will also prepare to meet your inner child's needs in the next lesson. I will address common "stuck" points people have with inner child work to help you feel more confident so that you can heal. Today's lesson is inspired by inner child work, Internal Family Systems, Nonviolent Communication's concept of "feelings arising out of unmet needs," and "both/and" thinking.

Bringing Self Love Into Your Daily Life

It's the final day of the course! Today, we are wrapping up the course, integrating everything you learned and experienced, and bringing it into your daily life. Awesome course! I was wanting to understand the basics of IFS, but your blending of IFS with other disciplines provided even more wonderful content (especially the integration of a spiritual guide). I feel i have a decent beginner's grasp of theses concepts now, and i plan to continue to work on learning more. Thanks for putting this course together!

This IFS framework encourages participants to identify and understand the various "parts" of themselves, which provides a valuable perspective on emotional experiences and personal conflicts. Through guided meditations, I was able to connect with these parts on a deeper level, fostering compassion and understanding for my thoughts and feelings.

I loved that you combine the meditations with guided reflection. I can recommend the course to anyone who is looking for a way to put parts work in integration to their daily life. I think it is so helpful when teachers think further than passing information but also crate a path for the student‘s possible applications. Thank you Emma!

This course was so impactful for me. Since starting it, I have felt much more present and aware of the various parts of myself. I am also more aware of my innate compassion that I can use to listen to each part and help it feel heard and loved, so I no longer put blind faith in self criticism. Thank you.

This was an excellent course for me. I am presently ending a 31 year marriage. We are working with a wonderful therapist to encourage us to Learn about inner family systems, and buy the book Conscious Uncoupling. Which, in the book, uncourages you and guides you to do some self evaluation and discover your original “source fracture wound”, which usually originates in your childhood, and will manifest into your marriage. Doing this inner child work, and discovering all of my wounded parts, I can take ownership and responsibility for my emotional health. With the goal of continuing to grow healthier within myself and with all of my future relationships which I am very excited about! Again I’m very thankful and appreciative for this course. Pam
