This course is intended for people living with chronic pain. In this 10-day course, you will better understand what factors impact and contribute to your chronic pain. Included are education sessions, mindfulness meditations, movement practices, and tips and tools that you can bring into your everyday life to befriend your pain experience. You may decide to journal some questions asked throughout the course to help you understand your pain experience in a different light. Audriana aims to provide a wide variety of educational content and practical tips to help you feel empowered in navigating your chronic pain journey.


Meet your Teacher

Audriana is a physiotherapist and trauma-informed yoga instructor who has completed many continuing education courses on chronic pain. She is passionate about working with individuals with chronic pain and empowering them to feel safe in their bodies. She understands the role that trauma can play on the nervous system and brings this knowledge into her role as a practitioner. Audriana prides herself on using her knowledge and insight to guide individuals on their healing journey.

Lesson 1

Lesson One: Understand The Nervous Systems Role In Pain

This lesson will teach you the role that the nervous system plays in your chronic pain experience as well as the many changes that can occur in the nervous system when living with chronic pain. This lesson gives you a scientific background into chronic pain with simple, easy-to-understand language and examples. We dive deeper into the nervous system in lesson two. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to recognize the different parts of the nervous system, their role in chronic pain, and the changes in your own nervous system due to your chronic pain experiences.

Lesson 2

Lesson Two: Befriending The Nervous System Finding Safety Over Danger

In lesson two we dive deeper into the changes that occur in the nervous system with chronic pain, and what you can do to befriend your nervous system. We discuss the impact of different dangers and safeties and how adding more safety to your life can help your nervous system. We touch on the teachings of Lorimer Mosley and invite practical daily tips that you can add to your life to help change your pain experience.

Lesson 3

Lesson Three: The Biopsychosocial Impacts Of Pain

Lesson three discusses the differences between the biopsychosocial and medical models of health. Audriana explains how the body, the mind, and your environment are all factors that contribute to your chronic pain experience. She invites you to journal on the different aspects of your life to notice how they contribute to your pain experience.

Lesson 4

Lesson Four: Rethinking Our Thoughts And Learning New Thought Patterns For Pain

Lesson four introduces aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy into the chronic pain equation. Audriana leads you through a real-life example and demonstrates different common thinking traps that can occur when living with chronic pain. She asks you to tune into your own life to notice if these thinking traps and thought patterns resonate with you. She teaches you to utilize journaling to recognize thoughts, change these thoughts, and in turn, change your relationship with your chronic pain.

Lesson Five: The Beauty In Acceptance

Lesson five invites you to accept your chronic pain. There can be a lot of resistance toward pain. This lesson includes journal prompts that invite you to tune into your body and pain experience. It includes practical daily tips to help you accept the pain you are experiencing. By the end of the lesson, you will have a different outlook on chronic pain and see the benefits of acceptance.

Lesson Six: Using Mindfulness To Help Pain

Lesson six dives further into using mindfulness to help the chronic pain experience. Audriana discusses what mindfulness is, and different ways to practice mindfulness. She leads you through a mindfulness exercise geared toward your chronic pain. By the end of the lesson, you will understand how you can add daily mindfulness activities to your life to help your chronic pain.

Lesson Seven: Using Pacing To Help Pain

Lesson seven discusses the concept of pacing and why it is important to pace when living with chronic pain. Audriana discusses the boom and bust cycle and how to use pacing to get out of this cycle for good. This lesson provides practical advice and concrete tips for pacing that you can add to your daily life.

Lesson eight discusses the role that movement has on chronic pain. Audriana educates on the many benefits of movement for chronic pain and practical daily tips to add more movement into your life, even when living with pain. A mindful movement practice is included in this lesson that invites you to move without judgment or expectation.

Lesson Nine: Finding Self-Compassion And Releasing Perfection

Lesson nine invites you to let go of perfection and invite self-compassion into your daily life to help your chronic pain. The lesson includes practical tips to invite self-compassion and journal prompts to remove perfectionism. You’ll leave this lesson feeling much more in tune with your body and mind, removing shame, blame, and guilt.

Lesson Ten: Taking Lessons Into Action

Lesson ten wraps up everything from the course by showing you how each and every lesson can be used in everyday life. Audriana provides this information in a way that is not overwhelming or burdening, but instead, as an invitation to try something different. Befriending your chronic pain shouldn’t be hard, it should feel empowering. Audriana shows you this throughout this lesson.
