Settle into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
This could be a seated position,
Or maybe you're lying down or propped up on a wall or a cushion.
Choose whatever shape works for you in this moment.
This is your time.
When you feel settled in,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Beginning to take this journey inward.
Imagine a pillar of white light descending from the heavens,
Shining on you and bringing a complete sense of peace and relaxation to your physical,
Emotional,
And mental selves.
Take a deep breath in,
And on the exhale,
Feel your shoulders melt away from your ears.
As you imagine that light traveling through your shoulders,
Down your arms,
Into your hands.
As the light moves into your chest and back,
Feel the tension releasing.
Allow your stomach to settle.
Imagine that light spreading into your hips,
Thighs,
Calves,
Your ankles,
All the way to your feet,
Removing all tension along the way.
Take a moment to enjoy this feeling of peace and stillness.
Shift your focus to the feeling of the breath.
Start to notice how it feels as your belly expands and contracts with each breath.
Anchor the mind by thinking,
Inhale as you breathe in,
And exhale as you breathe out.
As you continue this breathing exercise,
You can add a count.
The way that works is you'll still think,
Inhale as you breathe in,
Exhale as you breathe out,
And then count one.
And then inhale,
Exhale,
Two.
You can continue this at your own pace all the way up to a count of eight.
And once you reach eight,
Count back down to one.
Release the counting of the breath,
But hold on to the peacefulness and stillness you've cultivated through this practice.
These practices help us build a little more space in between our thoughts,
Which makes it easier to tap into our deepest selves.
Let's go deeper by considering a question that is inspired by the tarot card,
The three of swords.
The three of swords shows a heart pierced by three swords,
Representing physical or emotional pain inflicted by words,
Action,
Or intent.
There are dark clouds in the background,
But they offer the hope that just as the clouds will disappear,
The pain and hurt you are experiencing will disappear as well.
You may be feeling deeply hurt or disappointed.
It's important to allow yourself the opportunity to experience these emotions,
No matter how painful.
Turn your focus inward and ask yourself,
What is the root of my sorrow?
Deal with this question without trying to analyze,
Think,
And just allow any answers to come up from deep within.
What is the root of my sorrow?
What is the root of my pain?
What is the root of my sorrow?
What is the root of my pain?
As you practice bypassing the thoughts and listening to your deeper wisdom,
You may notice that you don't always hear words.
You may have gotten images,
Impressions,
Random thoughts,
Or memories.
Anything that came up could have meaning.
Take a few moments to process what came up for you and consider if there's anything that you want to act on.
Listen to the following affirmation,
Repeat it to yourself,
Letting it resonate deep within.
I am surrounded by support,
Seen and unseen.
I am surrounded by support,
Seen and unseen.
As we reach the end of today's practice,
Bring your palms together at heart center,
Slightly bowing your head.
Take a moment to reflect on your experience.
Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?
Did you practice listening and being open?
Allow this experience and any insights you have gained to stay with you as you bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.
Take your time and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movement that it needs.
