If your mind won't stop tonight,
You're not alone.
Hi,
I'm Karen.
A lot of us struggle with an overactive mind.
But the thing is,
You don't need to stop your thoughts.
You just need to stop following them.
Let your body rest.
Arrange yourself to be as comfortable as you can be.
And you don't need to close your eyes quite yet,
But if you want to,
That's okay.
Where do you feel your breath?
There's nothing to change here.
Nothing to fix.
Maybe scan your body.
Notice what's present.
Any obvious sensations.
And the more subtle sensations too.
There's no rush here.
The thing is,
You can't force sleep to come.
You can only make a space available.
Culture it.
Prepare it.
So that you are able to shift into sleep.
And part of that is giving permission for your thoughts to step back a little.
Where do you feel your breath?
Now.
Take a slow breath in.
And an even longer breath out.
Imagine,
If you can,
That each thought is like a cloud in the sky.
A cloud passing across the sky.
And you don't need to hold on to any of them.
Let your jaw soften.
And maybe now you can let your shoulders relax a little bit.
If they aren't closed already,
Invite your eyes to get heavy.
Let them gently shut.
There's nothing that you need to solve tonight.
Nothing that must be figured out right now.
Your only job right now is to rest.
Let yourself drift.
By thought.
Breath.
By breath.
Sleep will come naturally.
And gently.
And you are allowed to let go.
Perhaps as the thoughts populate in your mind,
You can imagine just closing down each of the files.
A thought pops up.
Give it permission to close down.
No solutions will be found tonight.
Letting it go.
Letting go the urgency of solving everything.
Or anything.
Letting it go.
It's not all yours to solve.
Letting it go.
Each thought like a cloud passing across the sky.
Not needing to hold on to a single one of them.
Scanning your body.
Noticing any of the obvious places of discomfort or tension.
And rearranging your body to be as comfortable as possible.
As comfortable as it can be.
Breath.
By breath.
Moment.
By moment.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Sleep will come.
Naturally.
Gently.
Slowly.
And you'll let yourself go.
For now,
Get a good night.
So much love.
Namaste.
